hey guy!

I regretfully inform you that I have sold Herbie, he has gone to a very loving owner that has already given him lots of updates that he really needed.

In return, I have inherited this gorgeous piece of Detroit iron!

She's a 1965 Ford Falcon Sprint 2 door hard top.

long story Short, she's been in the family for over 40 years. My grandad bought her from the original owner back in mid 70's.

Sadly someone had cut her life short by pouring sugar in the tank. Crying or Very sad

after that he did a ground up rebuild on the little 289 AND the C4 trans!

He was nearly done when he moved from Glendale Ca to Vegas Nv and that's when he parked it for the last 20 years.

its an original V8 air-conditioned model, and yes, that IS the original paint!!!

Young Gun Herbie was a great car but the Falcone will be greter. Great family history . I love it. I always said the Young Gun Had good hands, but he also has a good Head on His Sholder. Smile

Sorry you had to sell your Herbie but as long he has a great place to be it's good.

Nice family car story and those are awesome cars, Falcons are part of the reasons we have Mustangs since the production Mustangs are base on the Falcon's platform.

Good to see you back, albeit without Herbie.

The Falcon will make a nice ride for sure.

Wow! Great car! Looks like you have been busy. It's great that you are able to have something that is part of the family for so long. A friend of mine used to have a red 65 Falcon Futura convertible with a 289 4 spd (not original motor, either, but he had the original 260).

oh yes, very very busy! Very Happy

I had a fairly substantial budget from selling the beetle (which is what this car needed) So I was simply able to dig right in!

and that sounds awesome, I would loooovvvveeee a 4 speed.

I'm really close to her maiden voyage, I just need to track down and plumb for a dual reservoir master cylinder. The fruit bowl thing kinda scares me. No

That and I need a throttle assembly.

but that's it really! compared to how much it needed initially that's not bad at all, and man do I want to drive this thing!! Cool

Awesome! Definitely keep us posted on her maiden voyage! It's great that you had the funding to dive right in. I know my projects always seem to drag on forever due to lack of funds. It's all worth it in the end, though! Congrats on being so close to finishing! Very Happy

Names can be tricky for some and easy for others. I think once she's finished and you take her for a spin something good will come to you. Some of the names I used in the past were:

74 Valiant: Nancy
61 Phoenix: Lucille
57 Firesweep: Charlene
57 Firesweep: Marlene
57 Firesweep: Mavis
63 Belvedere: Molly
72 Dart: Mennonite Mobile (long story)
60 Rambler: Rosalyn

Our current project, a 55 Fireflite, is named Cornelia.

I've taken inspiration through song or the vehicle's history... and sometimes the color or model came into play as well. Charlene, my first FWLK mopar, was an homage to Christine since I found her at the bottom of a stack of cars in a junkyard, and Marlene was her parts donor.

You could try Rosie, since she is a pretty burgundy color. Smile

Hi Kyle. Good to see you working your magic on a new car. You did great with Herbie. If I had a Falcon , I would call her Lady Bird but Mabelline sounds great too. Cool

Lady Bird is also good.

I think Jag is right though, I might not know for sure till I take her for that first cruise!

Speaking of which I tested the transmission for the first time (on jack stands). It works!

I'm amazed because I knew absolutely nothing about automatic transmissions when I was putting together my custom valve body. :affraid:
