Cool cars, I like them all, that glass top wagon must be rare?

The glass roof wagon idea was used both by Buick, and Oldsmobile. These were pricier wagons than the standard haulers, and did not sell in great numbers. I would not consider them rare, though.

I got this one running and drivable this weekend, seems to run excellent!

Man - you get such great cars out there. You are really tempting me...I would love to go down there, buy one, wrench on it for a couple weeks and drive it home. I can get a lot done in a couple of weeks too!

I love that Windsor coupe, and the 58' Sport sub...

That is a real sensory overload of great cars, I still hope some day I get to go to see the car, trucks and maybe the little bit of bicycles you said you had there.

I like all of them but I really like the wagon, the 57 Desoto, if my Dad saw that Galaxie he would say he likes it especially if it had a 390 & at least a 352 or something.

We've actually had folks stay with us for a bit, make a car roadworthy, and drive it back home.

This Galaxie was kind of an oddball, it has the 260 V-8, and auto trans. The last owner was a carpenter, and used the car to haul lumber. The rear package tray was cut out, and a wooden bed was installed from the trunk into the passenger compartment. The car was probably parked when he accidentally busted out the rear window with his wood. Good rust free body, though.

Hehe - how rusty is that 57' chrysler windsor? What about that 57' Desoto Firesweep 4 dr hartop...that is pretty sweet too. Or the '60 Dodge Phoenix 2-door hardtop. Or a 59' dodge hardtop with a solid body...

These cars are pretty high on my always wanted list. Any of them complete?

Rick, the '57 Windsor set beneath a tree for 35 years, I had to scoop off ffifty pounds of dirt and compost from the hood, deck, and roof. It rusted some of the panels badly. The best car of the group is the '57 Firesweep 4-door HT, it only has some rust in the floors, none on the body.

Thats too bad about the windsor. I like those cars. I thought the 57' firesweep was a Canada only car - dodge chassis, desoto sheetmetal....

Does it have the 325 in it?

Thanks, Steve!

There is a '57 Cadillac hearse for sale in Angel's Camp currently, Also, an early '50's Cadillac ambulance at another stash. If you are interested in either, let me know. Both cars were priced in the vicinity of $4000 IIRC.

Nevada Dodge-
I picked this '58 Dodge up in Nevada last week, it was a long day of driving for me. I left here at 5 A.M. got up to Reno by 9, I picked up Allan as he was willing to help, and we continued the long drive to Battle Mountain where the car was parked out in the puckerbrush years ago. There was quite a bit of alkali on the desert floor, and anything touching the ground was rusted away. All 4 wheels were locked solid, so it took a bit of doing to get the car loaded. One side of each wheel was rusted away, so I used the trailer spare plus another that was on top of the car, and placed them on the front wheels.

After getting the car loaded up, it was after 3 PM and neither of us had lunch. We drove over to the Owl club in Battle Mountain, and I bought Allan lunch for helping. I didn't get back home until after 11 PM that day, and needless to say, I was whooped.

A guy up in Clear Lake bought the Chrysler to use as parts on his restoration. Unfortunately, being from Washington state, it was rather rusty.

Joe, if you ever make it out west, we would love to have you visit. We live on the property in an old farm house, and we have a spare bedroom for guests.
