PostSubject: Cable's to transmition question   Wed Aug 01, 2012 10:15 am

Will the original emergency brake and speedometer cable's attach and work with the new transmission that came with the 440???? I think it is a 747?

Thought I better ask BEFORE I make any more mistakes. Smile

Crisy The Speedo cable shoud work ok, I will go back through your post and early pictures on the emergency brake, Now did you put the motor home tranny in it and did it have a brake drum on the end of it. On the newer emergency brakes if you don't have a drum on the tranny, You will not have an emergency brake. You would need an updated rear end in it that has the emergency brake. But the old Torqueflights and Powerflights had the drum on the back for the emergency brake.

Idaho does not have a car inspection. I don't know about your State, But if it is not required there I wouldn't worry about an emergency brake. I do not have one never had any real nead for one. But the old trannys had to have one because they didn't have any Park. Smile

Bob I have that round drum on the end of my transmission. One end is hooked to the hand break. I think I need it in case the brakes should fail. I'll crawl under and try harder to figure it out. scratch The wires and cables are a nightmare.
but I do have some pictures to look at. Very Happy

Good Crisy, then the motorhome tranny has a drum, that is good, If the cable end does not fit perfect it would not be able to change or make an adapter. Smile
