PostSubject: gas cap help   Tue Sep 04, 2012 5:23 pm

Cause I´m confused sometimes, I left my gas cap at a gas station. It was ugly, so the owner threw it away. Idiot.
I searched Rockauto for a gas tank locking, found STANT 10492. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=100376 and ordered it. Although it looks a bit thick the catalog says it fits. It does not. The filler door won´t close completely.
Found this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/310405051049?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Although it says so, the seller cannot guarantee that it fits.
Maybe with this cheap one I´m doing nothing wrong, looks like my old one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/310347824388?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Both are vented. Anyone know these parts will fit?

OK nobody seems to know something about these cute little gas caps. Maybe this problem is too marginal Wink Nevertheless, I ordered both now, even at the risk that I have 3 then that do not fit.

i was going to make a smart comment asking you if you removed the key before trying to close the door but i decided not to Hee! Hee! i personally am not sure that is why i didnt chime in, i believe your best bet will be the one without the lock

You can make so much smart comments as you like mate, we´re here to have fun! Very Happy
It´s not the key!
But for general amusement I can tell you why I lost the old cap.
Since the gas taps do not stop automatically at these old cars, I often make a pretty mess at the gas station. The fuel splashes quite well out of the filler tube sometimes when the tank is full. So I closed the door, grabbed some paper and wiped the mess off Christine first. Then I went to pay, left and did not remember the cap I put aside. :geek:
