PostSubject: My 57 Plymouth Belvedere   Thu Oct 25, 2012 1:12 am

I bought my 1957 Plymouth Belvedere in August of 2010 near Greenville, SC from a very nice gentleman that owned it for more than 15 years. He did a great job restoring it back to original. He told me a story that the previous owner told him. In the early 1980's 2 men approached the owner and wanted to buy the car. He refused to sell it when he found out that they intended to use the car in a movie about a possessed car that smashes into things and kills people that cross it. I suppose this could be true and of course this is all hearsay but it does make for an interesting story doesn't it? The car is completely rust free. It's just incredible to look this car over and see no evidence of metal work anywhere. Sure looks like Miss Belvedere the Tulsa Plymouth doesn't it? Laughing Same color combo but unlike Miss Belvedere this car has the 301 cu. in. V8 with the factory power pack (4 barrel carb. and dual exhaust). Since I bought the car, I've adjusted the intake/exhaust valves (which made it run so much better), replaced all the wheel cylinders, front brake hoses, detailed the engine/engine bay and replaced both vent window frames. I still have to work out a vibration problem (@ ~30 mph) that I believe is front/rear u-joints on the driveshaft. I've had a whole lot of fun with this car already. "Goldie" gets a lot of attention and generates a lot of questions wherever I drive her. She wins trophies at nearly every car show we take her to. I hope you all enjoy the photos.

Bob

WOW New York!! She is so beautiful. I love the colour. just like Miss BELVEDERE.
I love how those big whitewalls look on the black rims. they really suit the car well.
I noticed in the photo of the front corner the headlight lens appears smooth....Is that a halogen headlight? I was thinking if fitting these to my car.

Beautiful Bob...I love your cars my friend.

Absolutely stunning looking car. Some of the 57-58 color combos were the best.

The headlights are standard...What you're seeing Jase...is that the top half of the headlights have a chromed cover on them. They're actually illegal in my state but no one has bothered me...yet. Laughing The former owner put them on...I guess they were popular way back in the 60's & 70's. I sort of like them and thought they were unique so I left them on. They have a specific name...can't think of it right now. Perhaps someone here knows?

Thank you all for your kind comments. It's a very cool car...certainly is not one you see all the time. Its unbelievable how many thumbs up I get...really makes people smile. I like that. Smile
