PostSubject: Where to get inner rockers   Mon Jan 28, 2013 4:23 am

Hi everyone, just wondering if someone can suggest where to get inner rockers for our cars? Theres a company on ebay selling these ones but i have seen people using inner rockers that had a couple of bends in them and have a shape? These ones in the pic look flat and straight, can someone point me in the right direction please, all help much appreciated thankyou.

I have bought the outers Joe but not the inners. I bought metal replacement parts from a couple of places. Let me look through my records and see what I can find later today.

Joe. I looked a a few sites including American muscle and they all show pretty much the same picture that you are showing. I will continue to look and see if I can find anything different.

Hey Joe, If the inner sills are straight they will have to be modified to fit just like Carlos did. I hand made mine also as they taper up and in at the front.

Yeh Jase thats what i thought, this is what i removed from the left side of my car the red arrow is the inner rocker, the black arrow is what was still on the car once i removed that inner rocker, i dont know, but that just doesnt look right, especially since its a flat piece (no bends), what do all you guys think?

Jase, i think the reason im having dramas working out my inners is because my car has had several shoddy repairs in the past and the result is that now i dont have an original one to copy. I realise now that all i need to do is to buy some flat sheetmetal and have the two 90 degree bends put in it and then i can cut it to shape. Any suggestions as to how i would get the correct measurements like length, width, taper etc?

Inner rockers are a bit more intricate than a flat piece of metal, here are a few photos of my '59 when I had the rockers removed to install the convertible rockers. Hope these help.

You could start with 2x 90 degree bends just like carlos did.........Then you would need to cut pie shapes top and bottom to get the curve that john has shown. reweld flat then cut away the waste to get it to taper in at the front and reweld to get curved in shape.

I made my inner sills for my 59 too. I'll have to dig out the pics for ya Joe. I did it years ago before digital cameras. will see what I can do for ya this week.

Maybe If John hasnt welded his outer sills on yet he could take depth measurments every inch or so from the front to give you so you can make a template of the curve.

Try contacting these folks. They have more parts than are listed on their web page.
