PostSubject: Knighty's Christine   Thu Mar 21, 2013 1:21 am

Well now the car is finished and driving I thought I should post the images here.
I bought this Car - 1957 Savoy from Frisco Texas back in 2002. Had a fair bit of rust like they all do but was complete.
running a 318 Powerflite. I bought this car and it arrived and used it as the centre piece of my 30 birthday party
Drove it in my paddock taking guests for spin with no exhaust , not much floor and no brakes
the party was 50's themed of course.
I then repaired, painted it yellow and white again then had it registered which was just over 12mnths of non stop work from that time.

while it was ok, and drove it around I knew it wasn't how I wanted the car. so I collected 58 parts over the years.
then 2 /3 years ago it was time to do it properly. as the photos are as you see it now.
I have to finish the drip rail mold and trim , rear boot trim to go but apart from that its done.

so this is the day it was loaded in Frisco

a car show in 2004 I attended

then off the road again in 2010

then now finished 2013

Knighty looks absolutley wicked! I love the stance and want to copy it how did you get her so low? in the rear and front? did you use lowering blocks or de-arched the rear leafs? I used Fifth avenue spindles on mine so that automatically drops it an inch and a half on front ....
Its worth noting most ORIGINAL Plymouth advertising you will see the 57s and 58s slammed in the advertised pics and images,,In real life they werent but the Ad execs knew these cars simply looked way tough
slammed.....

Yep they do look cool low, nothing fancy just old school. The rear leaves are new and made with an extra leaf and flatter. I dont like it this way as its to hard to get the wheel off
because when you jack the car up the wheel doesn't drop much. The rear also has a 2" lowering blocks. The front I just wound down the torsion bars.
I did have it lower at the front but the tyres grabbed the fenders when I turned to sharp so I wound it up a bit. Its probably not over practicle in family driven and loaded up cars
as you have to take it pretty easy going into drive ways and around kerbs , etc but I can deal with that Very Happy

She's perfect Knighty...Just fabulous. 58's have subtle design improvements over the 57's that happen to make a big difference and Christine red is just plain classy! Excellent job!!
