But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

On a hill overlooking the harbor of Macao, Portuguese settlers built a massive cathedral. But over time it fell in ruins, except for one wall. On the top of that high, jutting wall, challenging the elements down through the years, was a huge bronze cross.
It is said that when Sir John Bowring saw it, he was moved to write those words familiar to us all: "In the cross of Christ I glory, Tow'ring o'er the wrecks of time".
When Jesus lifted up His voice and cried. "It is finished." He did not mean His life was ebbing away or God's plan had been foiled. Though death was near, Jesus realized the last obstacle had been hurdled and the last enemy destroyed. He had succesfully and triumphantly completed the task of redemption. With the words, "It is finished" Jesus announced that Heaven's door was open...for all that believe and trust in Him for their salvation.
Kingdoms and empires come and go, but the Cross and all it stands for will always remain. "Tow'ring o'er the wrecks of time."

Prayer: Dear Lord...Thank you for Jesus and His completed task of redemption for us all... and that through His finished work on the cross is the payment for my sins and my salvation. Please help me to know without a doubt that when Jesus said "It is finished", heaven's door is personally open for me! In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
