The vertigate will not work with the 833OD without tweaking, but its not hard. I did one years ago and promptly broke the trans. The aluminum cased 833OD doesn't stand up well to a big block if you beat on it at all. There is a rare iron cased version that is much tougher, or just swap the gears into an iron case.

IIRC, all you need to flip the 3-4 lever on the trans and fabricate a longer shift rod to reach the flipped arm.

I know the OD tranny in the '84 truck is cast iron. The regular A883 I have is a cast iron 1963 or so with a B&T tail. What to do....

Just catching up on your work Marc. Your door panels are going to look great. I see you have one of the same books I used for reference. And your putting in a floor shifter. Don't remember ever seeing one like it. Cool Cool I'm trying to figure out where to put mine. Is there a reason for not putting it in the center of the hump??? scratch

You're a wise man, Marc, for mocking everything up before doing the actual restore work.

I've seen many nicely restored cars go back to the drawing board after painting, finding that things do not fit or modifications don't allow something.

Well, This is a Straight Line shifter and mounts to the side of the 4 speed manual transmission. There are shifters like inland factory shifters from volare's etc. that move the handle closer to the center of the hump and goes around bench seats. Hurst makes some too that will work with bench seats and may have interchangable handles. If you want a tall one, get one out of a 1984 or so truck with an A833 tranny. Marc. P.S. something like this:

Yes! It is flux core mig welding. If I were to do it again I would have made a new piece and overlapped the two. Marc

I collected up some gauges that seem to fit with our instruments.

I plan on fitting these in the instrument panel and an under dash diamond S&W panel.
