Sorry I haven't been to all of the Christine sites but I have been busy trying to sell my bicycles. I didn't sell much but I did sell my 68 Schwinn Stingray for lower than I wanted but our family needed the money for the end of the last month. We were going to buy a 1985 Mustang GT with everything except the 5.0 CFI but since we didn't have the money last month I was going to get it on the first but it was gone last Friday. We did find another car but it needs a lot of good work.

It's a 4 door 1965 Ford Custom 500 289 V8 Automatic for $800 including being delivered home for us.

Cool. Thanks and no problem. It does need more work than what I originally saw at the place I got it.

The driver side rear quarter panel has rust through it and many other areas. The pass side firewall needs repaired where the battery was and a piece of the radiator core support needs work because of rust. The floor needs new panels & especially the drive and passenger side. The trunk needs a new floor of which someone tried to repair themselves and other panel parts of the trunk. As well as a very few small parts. I also needs reupholstered including door panels.

Another thing is it was made in Atlanta GA with the DSO of Jacksonville FL and it was originally sold in Orlando FL. The place that I bought it from repairs cars had got it from the original owner. The speedometer shows 07111 about 1 tenth of a mile.

I took the rear top & bottom seat out to sweep the floor and both sides looked good except for a few little holes near the hump & floor but a few inches around is a little weak. I swept the trunk too and the floor needs a new panel that are online. Another panelof the trunk where the striker for the lid is I haven't found any panels online for it yet. The trunk lip where the weather stripping and other parts need replaced too. I have more to clean up like the front floors.

Here are a few more pictures and whenever I get around to do it I will take some more.

Matt, this car is going to need some serious metal repair and replacement. Are you going to be able to handle it?

I think so and my family thinks I can be able to do it. They are glad I am going to fix a car instead of a bicycle.

I hope to get it all back as it was from the Factory and not do some custom (No pun because of the model Name intended.) like everyone else does.

Unless someone gives me a 58 Plymouth to trade that doesn't need metal work like this car. That would be the only car I would ever give this up for but I don't really want to give up on my first car no matter what. I have looked over many cars online and none were as good as this one for the price and there were many in worse condition for more money. The only times I seen any car for the price that was better had no title when Florida is supposed to have a title for any car you sell.

Thanks. Someone patched the exhaust with a Budweiser can and it looks like a 70's steel can.

The original Dealer in Orlando was Heintzelman's Ford, Inc. 36 West Livingston Orlando FL but it's now in another part of Orlando and they only sell trucks.

Owners manual is there but not in good shape or at least not on the outside and other stuff is in the pouch. I don't have it uploaded to my computer but I have the build sheet that was above the glove box and I hope there is another in the door as a few people found 2 of them before and I hope somewhere online there is a decoder for it.

I had looked online to find where others have found theirs. Many found them under the seat but others found them in the doors but I found it on the top of the glove box interior insert. I saw a few people who found two of them but everyone else had more code letters & numbers on theirs when mine has very few.

I hope when I get to the door I will find another with more info on it. I know it's early to talk about tires but I was looking for some blue line bias ply tires but the ones I saw were for 14 inch wheels instead of the 15's like on mine. It has 3 old radials from Sears either from the 70's or 80's along with one 90's radial and the spare in the trunk is a 7.75 4 ply bias ply Shell Gas Station tire from the late 80's or to I believe older 1969 as I checked the name on the tire on a site for trademarks for the production years that started around 1969 to the late 80's.

I finally scanned the Build Sheet on my scanner. Car Line M at one site said M is for Mercury. IB Color stands for interior body color. Type Order C means Basic Off Standard Equipment as in it has 1 or a two more options added but I still don't know most of it.

I haven't really done much other than cleaning dirt from the floor and trunk, as well as dirt & leaves from the doors after taking the door panels off.

Will need newer door panels and covers but the only new ones were for a regular Custom and not the 500. After cleaning what I said above I have found more rust and holes, including the rear of the frame needs work because whenever they pulled the car from where they got it from it bent outwards.

Hey, cool car .I,ve always liked the the full size fords,a lot of room and great cruising machines. You have stated their is quite a bit of rust in the body and floor panels.I would definetly get underneath the car and have a real good look at the frame .Especially the torque boxes and where the frame kicks up by the rear wheels. They look solid as well as most of the frame does. The rear piece of the frame behind the bumper and about 6 inches from it going towards the rear wheels is the only spot of the frame that is bad.

He said it runs when I got it but I haven't got it to yet. It's not connected to the tank so I have to use a gas can but last time I made the time to start it, it will turn over but I didn't get it running yet.

Thanks to everyone who posted in my thread.

More pictures, I have looked for parts on Ebay and craigslist but nothing yet or at least at the price and shipping as most will not ship some of the parts. I need door panels. Passenger inner fender. Radiator core support. Rear seat top & bottom because the frames are bad. Hood & trunk. Turquoise door pillar panels and other things.

Door panels. The 1965 Country Sedan wagon 71B (Body Code) uses the same panels as the Custom 500 54B (BC). 3 panels are for 71B and 1 says 54B in their part numbers.

Don't get discouraged looking.Try junkyards as you never know what they might get in.Swap meets are another good option and don't forget craigslist, but beware the scammers on there. Good luck and have fun with it.Part of the fun of this hobby is doing the detective work. Rick

Yeah I read that the battery acid help them rust away and they have the tie down for the battery but nothing else. There is an Autolite replica battery for them but it's around $300 something.

Thanks.

I definitely like to have it stay the same paint color as I think it's a beautiful color.

I just wanted to ad a link to show what Tropical Turquoise looks like in perfect condition.

I agree - the original turquoise color will look great.
Wish I could help source some parts for you. I'll keep my eyes open.

I have done a little more work on it including new spark plugs and the Points & Condenser among other things.

But someone gave me an offer on her yesterday and after thinking about it. In the long run I don't think I can keep her after going over the work she needs and the money will go to something else a little more rust free.

He decided not to buy her and said he didn't want to take the few parts he said he needed and then scrap the car.

He also said he it should be saved & restored and was in better shape than his 65 Galaxie was when he started fixing his.
