PostSubject: High School stories..   Wed Nov 27, 2013 2:14 am

Hi everyone!!

This might be a bit random and I didn't really know what to put this topic under.

Anyway, does anyone have any cool high school or what ever stories of owning cool cars in the muscle car era they would like to share?

I love reading about peoples stories from when they were in high school or what ever and owning cool muscle/ classic american cars back in the day. I'm sure other people like reading them too!

I don't have a story of my own from those times sadly. I was born in the late 80s Sad
I've always imagined how awesome it would have been to live in the US in the late 50s and 60s.

Thanks everyone!

In 1963 I was 16. I bought a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere with a blown engine out of a junk yard just up the road from our house. She was a two door HT. Black with a red roof. Body and interior was in great shape. We lived in the country on a dirt road. If you wanted to do anything you needed wheels. The following year I worked and saved my money and bought a totaled 1957 Chrysler with a 392 Hemi in it. I borrowed a chain fall from a farmer friend just down the road and pulled the engine and put it in the Plymouth. Worked under under a big Maple tree in our front yard and hung the chain fall on a big branch on the tree. Took me forever trying to get the engine in the car as the distributor was too close to the heater duct. In 1965 the year a was a senior in High School she was my daily driver. Back then we could leave School for lunch. I was a country school and a bunch of us would go up the road a couple of miles and drag race. No one could beat this car. Home room teacher signed my yearbook " To the King of the road" that year. Every once in a while the engine would rock back just far enough when we would drag race for the distributor to hit the heater and break the rotor. I always kid that Stephen King owes me a royalty as the book he wrote about a skinny high school kid fixing a 58 Plymouth and the relationship between him and his car was taken from my life. True story. That is why now in my twilight years I am restoring 58 Plymouths.

love that story Jim

when i was 10 my father brought home a 63 Plymouth Belvedere all in primer, i begged my dad for it for 2 months but he wouldnt listen, so he would put for sale signs on it and everyday i would get home off the bus i would take the sign and throw it across the street, it took my dad 5 lost signs before he finally gave in, i then decided to sell the car when i was 15 and got my 58 Plymouth Very Happy
