4dr Hardtop. 383 ci, auto trans, black interior, and factory reflective sport stripe

My first car. Still love the smell of those old Mopars. Bought this one from a little old lady down the street for $300. Had an acre of hood and zero rust or accident damage. Rebuilt the brakes, transmission and completed some minor engine clean up and tune up. Had 97k original miles in 1986. I put another 40k over the next four years. Sold for $800 in 1990. Man, I miss that car.

Ok, let's see if phot bucket works:

66 Dodge Monaco right? Either a Monaco or a Polara. I don't see many 4 door hardtops around anymore. Real Nice car Joe. You know I have a thing for mid 60's - early 70's full size Mopars too right? Chrysler Corp. called them C-bodies. They're not too popular with the majority, aka: "The Mopar Muscle" guys the "B & E body" guys. Boy, I sure liked them though and they just floated down the highway. Find another some day. They're very affordable.

Thanks for sharing Joe...

Bob

Thanks, all.

You got it, Bob. She was a Monaco.... And float down the road she did! I , too like the C-bodies. Still plenty of power and heavy on comfort.

Nice looking Dodge, Joe.

Those were nice cruisers, I had a buddy in high school that owned one.

that was a nice Monaco Joe! I bet you wish you had kept it eh? although not my first Mopar, I bought a black 1967 Polara 4-door back in '97-- it had the 318 small block which is of course a great motor, I drove that car for years and put lots of miles on, making 6-hour round trips often, it sure floated down the road nicely - I wish I still had it!

I also just had to add "my first Mopar" to this thread: a 1973 Chrysler Newport - it was my 2nd car, I bought it in 10th grade, for $500 I think? I didn't have much money so I had to make payments of $50/month! it had the 400 big block, with lots of power even with the smog pump equipment - I burned the tires on the main drag one time and got an Exhibition Driving ticket to show for it (oops, haha) - I don't have a way of putting a photo of it on here (no scanner), but I'll try to put a couple pics of a green Newport-- mine was maroon w/white vinyl top:

Thanks, Roy! I can relate. You know, a lot of horse power and Detroit steel in the hands of a 16 year old boy is a wonderfully dangerous thing. I racked up a drag racing ticket in that Monaco for racing my buddy's TransAm. In my mind I didn't keep my old Dodge because in my heart, I knew I always wanted a finned MOPAR.

I like those old Newports. I bet your old Chrysler could really move! You post some pics of that Satalite amd that Catalina?
