PostSubject: Who is the Liar?   Wed Apr 23, 2014 10:16 am

Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
1 John 2:22-23

The apostle John did not mince any words when He spoke of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was the disciple that stood on Calvary and watched in horror as Jesus died a long cruel death from crucifixion. He was the disciple that Jesus spoke to from the cross as He was taking His last breaths. He was "the disciple whom Jesus loved". Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother, His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw His mother there, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
John 19:25-27

You see, John was the apostle that Jesus trusted "to take His place" and take care of His mother Mary. He told His mother to love John as her own son as He certainly knew she would need support now that His days of taking care of her were over. Do you think John knew Jesus? Do you think Jesus knew John?

When John says we're a liar if we deny that Jesus is the Christ do you think we should listen? He goes to the extreme to say we're the anti-christ if we deny the Son and...if we deny the Son we don't have the Father! We should not only believe in Jesus but walk with Him in the world. The world should see a change in the way we live because of our belief in the Savior. If we're no different than the world, aren't we too denying that Jesus is the Christ?

Insight: Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. From the Gospel of John...We should take seriously the writings of "the disciple whom Jesus loved".

Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that I will receive John's words and take them seriously, along with this scripture verse as well. And now, dear children, continue in Him, so that when He appears we may be confident and unashamed before Him at his coming. 1 John 2:28. I want to look forward to the day when I see You face to face. In Jesus' Name, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
