If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. 1 John 4:15-16

St. Francis of Assisi had discovered the secret of happiness when he prayed.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life!

Tears shed for self are tears of weakness, but tears of love shed for others are a sign of strength, I am not as sensitive as I ought to be until I am able to "weep over the erring one and lift up the fallen." And until I have learned the value of compassionately sharing others sorrow, distress and misfortune I cannot know real happiness.

Insight : The opposite of love isn't hate. It's selfishness. Will you ask the Holy Spirit to free your life from selfishness and fill you instead with the love of our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ?

Dear Father God, I thank You for the truth of love in Your Word. I know I am selfish. I catch myself seeking my own selfish desires all the time. Please draw me close to Jesus and help me to believe that His death on the cross not only paid for my selfishness, but all my sins. I want Your power to put the needs of others before what comes so natural to me; my own selfish desires. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers
