You need to push the front of the bottom seat cushion inward's and then upward's all in one motion, nothing to unscrew up to this point. After that all screws for the back seat cushion and arm rests are exposed.

Yep...that's perfect advice. A few times I've struggled with removing back seat bottom cushions (if they've been in place a long time). But pushing at the bottom of the bottom cushion towards the back of the car and then lifting up should do it. There's 2 "hook points"...and I believe they're located approx. in the center of each rear floor pan. Once you get the cushion out, you'll see what a nice fastening method this is. Oh, and I always forget this myself...Rear Armrests should be unscrewed/removed first for easier removal of bottom cushion.

Bob

Thanks Bob, John (Big M) gave me good info too! I'm glad we have a place like this to get help with our projects. One question, doesn't the seat have to be removed first in order to remove the arm rests on a coupe?

you should be able to get to the screw holes for the rear armrest before removing the bottom portion of the seat

I may be wrong but the crews of the arm rests are not visible. Maybe if you remove the carpet, I don´t know. I´m pretty sure I first removed the bottom, then the top cushion and at last the arm rests.

Ha Ha no worries Joe! no offense taking at all! Very Happy Im not at all familiar with the removal of the rear bottom seat. Ive done restorations and such but this has me a bit baffled. But ive got some help from Chris and also reading on here. I was just curious to see how bad it was under the rear seat.  Im almost sure some varmints  have nested under there. Not to mention just being in the car gives me the weebee geebees! ha ha

I didn't even realize until now you posted in Chris old thread. They are a pain at first but once you figure out how it works it is much easier. You need to actually stand in the back seat footwell facing the trunk. Bend down and push your knees and use your hands pushing on the front part of the bottom section of the back seat. One side at a time. Passenger side and drivers side. Once you remove it take a good look underneath and you will realize how it works. No tools needed for this job unless the armrest are in the way? Hope this helps Brian

No worries Joe, After taking your advice and Chris giving me advice and seeing what Bob said woolah! I got it out. The key is to pop one side out at a time. I was trying to get it all out at once. But now I see how this works! Thanks guys! Oh yah I almost for got.. I did find some goodies under that seat. Some good and some bad! ha ha maybe I should of left it in! Very Happy

I get any money that was found! LOL!

Most money I ever found in a car was a $100 bill that was wadded up and stuffed under a console in a '63 Galaxie X/L, along with a few hundred Doublemint gum wrappers.

It was pretty much like Nu-Grape, Faygo, or any other grape soda that was available then. Good, but nothing to write home about.
