There is a good sized junkyard close to me with most of its inventory scattered in the nearby woods. I'm out early Saturday morning to find a savoy 4 door that a friend claimed to have seen years ago, I need a right fender from it. This place isn't organized or maintained at all, elbow high weeds and trees everywhere. You have to be able to identify cars by antennas and roof trim. I tried to scrounge through it for a couple hours but, well...

-walking through the tall weeds-
"hey cooool, a rambler!"
-20 mins later-
"what's that? Oh neat, a ramb...ler...hmm"
-25 mins later-
"a rambler!? wait a min..."
-it's almost noon-
"I better head back, they are closing soon. Uh, which way is out?"
-the sun giggles, refusing to tell me which way to go-
"GPS, save me!"
-my phone blurts out: HEY! IMMA DIE NOW, then promptly dies-
"..."
-continues walking through tall weeds-

The only way I found my way back, and I cannot make this up, was that I stumbled across the junkyard dog wandering through the woods. It's a giant, friendly husky. After I scratched his head for a moment I said "Hey!, lets go home!" Immediately he started walking like he knew where he was going so, I followed. 30 mins later we were back at the entrance.

My friends and I will return next weekend in full force, if it's out there we'll find it. If all else fails, I will ask the dog where it is.

Anyone have any interesting junkyard diving stories?
