The sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other so that you do not do what you want. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:17, 22-23

Jesus often introduced new truths by comparing them to something people already knew. To people familiar with grapevines He said, “Remain in me and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches.” John 15:4-5

When we cling to Jesus, His characteristics will grow in us. His character is the same as the Father’s and the Holy Spirit’s. We see the “fruit” of the Holy Spirit listed in our text. Though we would like to be loving, joyful, and full of faith, this may not be the case. Why? Have we not been clinging to Jesus and letting His fruit grow in us? We read this conditional promise from the trustworthy One, “If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.” John 15:5

Unlike a vine, people have responsibility (response ability). Let us choose to intertwine our lives with His, until people recognize us as a part of Him.

INSIGHT: Have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If so, would people recognize you as a Christian if you didn't tell them you're one? Are you becoming more Christlike with each passing day?

Dear Lord, Please give me the desire to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I want to be Your child, bear much fruit  and be bound for the promised land in heaven. And in the meantime, I want others to be drawn to Christ through my life in Him. In Jesus' Name I pray Amen.
