PostSubject: 58 Belvedere   Wed Nov 12, 2014 8:55 pm

I've been a fan of the car since I saw the movie for the first time. I'd have to say I was about 16 when HBO first aired it. At the time I was already a huge Chevy/Mopar fan as I currently had a 72 Plymouth Satellite Sebring my parents had handed down to me as my first car. I always like the 57-58 Plymouths,,, those rear fins were just bad azz. For years I watched the movie as I'm also a horror fan.

I started searching for a 57/58 a couple of years ago. I debated a project car vs something basically done. I've had my share of projects in the past 5yrs since I do have a few in my collection. My final decision to get something basically done came after helping my friend with the 57 Ford project he took on,,, long story there. We basically stuffed a 400 ford with a c6 tranny in his project.

Once I had my mind set to find something that was basically done I began my search. Now don't get me wrong I wasn't looking for a 100% perfect car as I was also open to finding something that may need some work. For months I searched and one night randomly came across an add that was ,,,, well,, I really don't even know how I found it. Most adds on the internet can date back years.

After hunting down a contact number, which took some days since the add was placed by someone else for an employee, I finally made contact with the owner, who still had the car. Naturally the deal was made and we brought her home.

This is a 1958 Plymouth 2 door Belvedere Club car sedan. The car has a complete drive train out of a 69 dodge charger. Chrysler 383 big block with 727 torqueflite with the 3.55 sure grip rear. She came to me like this,, best part it's this is what I would have done if I went the project car route,, well maybe a 440.  She was originally a red 6cyl manual trans. I've installed a new radiator, valve covers, fuel sending unit, air cleaner, trunk carpet, re seamed the trunk and a few other goodies like a custom fit set of Plymouth mats. She also had a few things that weren't hooked up correctly like the speed o cable and rear deck fan. The paint got the complete Zaino treatment.
Recently I found some pics online of the Christine's used for the film in a junk yard. I spotted that one was a club sedan. Can't tell whether it was originally a savoy or belvedere.
