I was wondering where you were hiding Joe, been awhile! Yeah, I broke down and picked up the Savoy for all the V8 bits but I couldn't bring myself to mutilate the frame by cutting off the motor brackets because it's really decent, so I made another trip to the salvage yard and got what I needed from a 58 wagon....

Those '58 wagon torsion bars are the same h.d. that are used on the Fury. They are a thicker. Very hard to find.

Might want to grab those torsion bars Chris. If they are the HD bars they'll fetch at least $1000.00 on ebay.

Man, I wish I had known that sooner! But I can still grab them at some point.

Well, I made another trip to the salvage yard today, I wanted to get another dash because if I do go ahead and install an auto trans, I don't want to cut a hole in my original dash. The only 57 one I knew of was from a manual car as well and someone had drilled a couple holes in it but fortunately it's right where the shifter pod would go so no foul! The car also had an aftermarket radio setup with the correct bezel, I thought it would be nice if I wanted to put an am/fm radio in at some point. And I grabbed another set of V8 brackets since I might just try to make a conversion mount so I won't have to cut the six cylinder ones off. We'll see, I'm having so much back and forth with myself right now, asking if I really want to go through the hassel. Maybe I should just leave her as she is..... scratch

Nice Job Chris! That dash looks good. Nice find! You should contact Mopar directly and tell them you want a new poly 318 crate motor. Razz

Had me another trip to the yard, I wanted to get a nice passenger side exhaust manifold since the one from my 57 is cracked and I got one from a 59 wagon, the nice thing was that the passenger side fender and the hood was gone so it made my job much easier! I also got a V8 clutch pedal from a 58 wagon. I picked up some old leaf springs to throw under the donor car for now too.

I love these boneyard trips of yours Chris! Seems like you score every time you go. Got some nice finds there. I can appreciate your reluctance on the switch to a V8... Sometimes the "Plymouth Powers" speak to us and we have no choice but to heed the call! LOL

Looks good brother. Is the switch something you want to tackle this year?

Thanks Wayne, I really want to concentrate on getting the interior back together first as I'm getting too spread out on the car, too many different things going on at once can easily overwhelm the project. The trouble is I'm getting a little frustrated thinking about all that is involved with the conversion and I cannot allow that to jeopardize the situation and I have to remind myself that wanting the V8 is a self inflicted burden. If doing the swap means getting burned out then I won't do it.

Chris.

Just take it slow Chris. You got this! We may be older but we still got one more ride in us! lol. That motor swap is something that is in the back of your mind for sometime now. Don't bail out on it yet! You have to think like you did in HS. A job like that was done over a weekend with out a thought! Do I need to give you a pep call!! Btw my eye balls are all over those leaf springs.

Oh don't worry there Brian, I haven't lost my V8 ambitions, I just have to finish somethings first before going on to other things. Smile
