As Moses' days on earth were coming to an end, He encouraged Joshua with these words. The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8

Joshua’s job was about to be a daunting responsibility—to carry on the legacy of leadership laid down by his illustrious predecessor, Moses. Joshua earned the distinction of becoming Moses’ successor when, in the face of the furious cries of the people to go back to Egypt, and their menacing threats to stone him, Joshua (with Caleb) stood his ground and boldly bellowed, “The Lord is with us. He will lead us into that land.” A new day was about to dawn on the people of Israel. Finally they were about to possess a land flowing with milk and honey. As 40 years of wilderness wandering gradually ground to a halt, so did Moses. Now well advanced in years, he knew he was about to die. He needed to crown his successor, Joshua. Leadership can be lonely, as Moses knew only too well.

INSIGHT: ~3300 years later...the same can be true for us in this extremely complicated world of ours. As true followers of Jesus Christ, we can still say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. (Hebrews 13:6)

Dear God, Even though I may not be leading multitudes of people out of Egypt like Moses or Joshua, I still have an effect on everyone around me. I want You to be with Me so I can be an effective leader in my own right...not prone to be afraid or discouraged. God, help me to know...that as long as I've asked Jesus to be in my heart as My Lord and Savior, He always goes before me, is always with me and He will never forsake me. In Jesus' Name I pray...Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Excellent Bob. Thank You for sharing! Amazing things happen in trying times when we think of Christ first. Sometimes that's a hard thing to do...especially when stressed to the point of wanting to make a knee jerk reaction.

The name Jesus can invoke a power that can put out any fire and diffuse the toughest of confrontations. I've seen it first hand. Next time anyone is about to engage in a heated argument think of Jesus as it begins to unfold. Better yet, say his name out loud... The result will surprise you! Smile
