Cool! Take good care in moving it now...I take it you'll have to go to some nearby terminal to get it?

Let the excitement begin! Congrats Wayne! Im very curious to see if you can get it to work. You should be able to trigger the juke to work with out the coin mech if you want to just see what it does. You might need to clean and lubricate a few items first. But it did look pretty clean inside so that is a plus! Good luck with it Wayne. Keep us posted! Very Happy

I'm stagnated for the time being as I wait for Christine's driveshaft to be finished. Soooo I decided to get back to this beauty. I went through the amp and although it will eventually need professional attention she's 100% ready to rock. I changed 2 capacitors, cleaned years of dirt and dusted off the circuit board to improve heat dissipation. lastly, I installed all brand new quality tubes! The pre-amp power supply is at a local shop being thoroughly tested. Turns out the fuses for it are quite hard to come by. Luckily they had a source and were able to order me 2 full sets.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Next on the list was the original and correct speakers I had purchased. I decided to try and repair the cones but sadly, the glue expanded and it was a bust. No worries though. They are boxed up and will be shipped out monday to simply speakers in florida for full restoration and testing! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Last but not least I scored this title board on ebay for $40.00... The reason? The plastic star is intact whereas mine was missing. Yeah.. I'm certified! LOL!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The guy who had the title board also has an original dome glass. It's scratched up but the emblem is still in great shape. I'm hoping the price comes way down though. Yesterday it was $350.00 and today it has a buy it now for $249.00.. If it drops another hundo I'm all over it! Smile

Hey Brian! All three speakers are being reconed. The voice coils will likely be replaced as well. I'm trusting these to the experts. Smile I'm also having the speaker wire connections on the two 12" speakers updated to the red and black spring tab style as I'll be experimenting with different gauge wire. I'm having a very difficult time trying to find long stud male RCA jacks though. Hopefully the modern day shorter style will do. Smile

I also found the missing piece of aluminum trim for the bottom and installed 4 new heavy duty dolly rollers. That tipping from missing one was driving me crazy! Laughing

Ha ha very nice Wayne Smile If you are looking for longer RCA jacks or jacks that are out of the norm check out parts express. They should have what your looking for. But I think the shorter stud type RCA jacks will work fine.  Also the heavier gage speaker wire you use to the larger size speakers will deliver better bass. Or in theory heaver gage to larger speakers and finer lighter gage wire to mids and tweeters. That's the rule of thumb if its sound you are trying to better.

Your doing fantastic work Wayne!

I blew the main slow blow fuse and fried 2 capacitors Chris. Keeping my fingers crossed all else is ok! I should know in a week or so when I get the pre amp power supply, fuses and speakers back.

The problem is the Amp Chris. As you know someone has been into it and sadly, they did a poor job. The main A channel RCA Jacks are missing so I'm forced to Use the secondary B. That won't be correctable until it is sent to a pro for a FULL restoration. I'm keeping my fingers crossed Channel B is good to go.

I'm definitely going to customize this machine. It's somewhat dull so the LED lighting is a must. I'd like the rest finished in the 1950's sea foam green.....

Im confused on how they get stereo out of that arrangement. Or maybe its not what one would call true stereo. Maybe stereophonic type sound? Normally true stereo comes from left channel and right channel of the same arrangement. Left channel having its own woofer, midrange, tweeter and Right channel having its own woofer, midrange, tweeter. Ive never seen an arrangement like what you have Wayne. This is and interesting one for sure! Smile

Well, it says Stereophonic right on it so I'm guessing that's the idea. Definitely not true stereo as we know it today. Still a very powerful and classic sound when everything's working properly.

Before she blew it was playing ok and by sheer chance, one of the bad tubes must have kicked in for about 10 seconds because the sound come through crystal clear, powerful and sweetly balanced for a short time. I think this machine has a ton of untapped potential hence my willingness to give it a new lease on life. Smile

Well Wayne im sure she will sound awesome when your done! I totally dig the speaker arrangement. I bet it will rock the house! Not to mention the other cool ideas you have planned to do to it. You are truly saving this machine and bringing it back to life and that's what its all about! Wink

I'm thinking this will work nicely. Why bother hooking up plain old fluorescent white lights when this will really brighten things up?

I spent a significant amount of time on the Juke this weekend. The pre-amp power supply is working great and she is playing nicely. Still, the sound quality is without question totally dependent upon the quality of the record. New 45's on a scale from 1-10 are a strong 10. Older records go down from there. I'm using some new speakers for the testing and I am confident that once I get the originals back she should sound terrific. I did decide that I am going to cheat a bit though. I decided to buy a blue tooth adapter so that I can stream music and playlists to the juke using an iphone or pc...

That's cool Wayne! Smile
I do like the idea of that Bluetooth adapter on the Jukebox. That way you don't have to worry about running back to the Jukebox to switch out the record when the record is done playing- with Bluetooth, endless streaming of music. Smile

I was wondering if you were going to run an adapter for streaming music. Your sound quality will definitely go up doing that.  Digital streaming into a tube amp should sound fantastic! Bannana

The amp has two female rca jacks for input from the needle. Sadly both are white in color so I'll have to experiment with the red and white jacks on the bluetooth adapter. 2 simple RCA splitters should allow me to run both the needle inputs and bluetooth inputs simultaneously. That way you can listen to a record or stream without touching the juke.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the sound quality Brian. Hopefully the digital signal will sound great from the tube amp! Smile
