Hey there Bob, I was just looking at Austin Swangers V8 conversion that was done to his 57 Plymouth six cylinder car and I noticed something that may help you, I remember you saying that your shifter cable is too short, Austins photo bucket pics show some different cables including a '64 tourqueflite cable, It also shows a '64 Chrysler torqueflite cable as being longer and that may solve your issue.

Remember that 1960 motor and tranny I picked up earlier this year Chris? Well, it had a tranny shift cable that was 6" longer so I borrowed it for now and installed it. It's much better now. If I was to restore the car with this setup I'd definitely want an even longer cable though because it still has to go through the steering column hole which is not right. Regardless, I'll check out the photos. Thanks very much Chris.

Bob, When did you pick up a motor and transmission? Did you post it here? How did I miss this! scratch

I believe Mr.Bob found himself a 1960 361 engine, I don't recall if the transmission was from the same car though.

Yes, I picked up a 1960 361 and torqueflite transmission last June from a FL member in Iowa. Drove to Indiana to meet him and we made a mini-vacation out of it. Not much to blab about yet because the motor is in pieces and both need rebuilding. And I'm not even sure it's the way I want to go yet, but it would make a nice a 350 clone. I could get a parking brake back into my car too, (on tailshaft of transmission). All it will take is a decision to throw a ton of money at it. I'd have to hire it all out...the rebuild, the swap...everything. Need to find someone who knows old Mopars...someone trustworthy. Not an easy thing to do around here. We'll see? If I decide to do something with it, I'll be sure to let you all in know!

Well good for you Bob! Smile You know rebuilding motors can get expensive. There is a company that has good prices on engine rebuild kits called Falcon Performance. Check them out if you get a chance. Ive rebuilt my fair share of motors. Most of the hidden cost is in the machining work that might need to be done. So far ive been lucky with that! Smile

Thanks to GOREDFURY, I now have rubber pads/gaskets under Green Christine's side view mirrors. Whoever owned the car prior, never bothered to get a new set after painting.

Because I simply made a few measurements of my side view mirror locations, GOREDFURY bought an extra set and mailed them to me. Thank you Brandon, aka GOREDFURY!

This is just one example of the fine camraderie found around here at the CCC. Thank you again Brandon!
