PostSubject: My 58' Fury   Tue Jan 17, 2012 2:37 pm

Hi Everyone!
I'm new user/member.............and recently acquired a 1958 Plymouth Fury.
She needs quite a bit of TLC
My knowledge of this specific year/Style of car is somewhat limited, so I joined this site in hopes of finding/getting any/all help I can find, and that anyone is willing to provide/share. Please! Very Happy

My first question, amongst many to come.........is what can you all tell me about 58' Plymouth Fury specific engines..........I have 2 engines......the one that's in the car looks to be a single barrel carb V8.....it is frozen.
The second engine I have, purchased after the car, is also a V8.....and is allegedly a 318..........how can I tell, and how can I tell if its a 58' Fury specific 318
The car came with a manifold to support the 2 x 4 barrel carb set up.

Also........does anyone make parts for this car............nuts/bolts/inner fender wells, brake kits, pullies, generators, power steering pumps........ect...ect.

I would appreciate any help you guys would be willing to share : )

Thank You So much............I want to get her back on the road to glory! : )

Sincerely
-------kitkong

Welcome to the club. The 58 Fury mechanical parts interchange with most other models in 58 and some other years. The trim package will be spicific to the Fury and engines could be different but you could order most 58's with the bigger engine in 58. It looks like you may have something in the car that is other then a 57-58-59 318. You will need to verify size and year by the serial number. Some of the guys here have a listing so they can tell you what it is. A lot of the fury's came with a 350 golden commando engine and that engine would have the distributor in the front. You can also list the serial number of the engine you bought and the guys can help you. The body looks to be in good shape and this is a good find as The Furys are few and far between. On the down side you need to hope you don't need too much that is Fury specific as those parts will be expensive. A 58 Plymouth is a 58 plymouth and because of Christine a lot of the folks here know them inside out. If you take the time to read through some of the post it give places to get some of the parts you may need. John from BIG M auto is one of our group and suppies used parts that are needed all the time. Don't be a stranger, get aquainted with the folks here and join right in and post. Post some more pic's of her and tell us where you are from.

Jim

Hi and welcome to the CCC. Your Fury looks like a nice starting point. We have 2 great parts guys here(Big M and Jeff Nichols) which phone numbers are available on our homke page. If you need a real GC Fury L350 Engine, less Carbs , I have a nice one for sale which needs to be rebuilt. You can PM me if need be. Best of Luck on your project and keep us up tp date. Thanks, Joe C NY

Well, THANK YOU ALL! Very Happy

Appreciate the support! Very Happy

My name is James, and I live in the Denver Colorado area......

I was told that the engine currently in the car is a late model 57' Dodge poly-head 325

Some months ago I purchased a 57' Plymouth 318.....was told it was rebuilt, but looks more reconditioned........at not a very good one at that......

Anyhooo.....I would rather have a 58' Fury specific 318 or 350 if I can find one........I do have the 2x4 set up, but from the looks of things, I'm gonna need all the brackets, pullys and belt wheels to get everything set-up.
I recently discover that I may be missing a rear bumper wing..........
Yes, she needs a lot of work, and quite a few parts.........

So, here I am..to share my car with you all and hopefully get some leads on parts and pieces Very Happy

I'm currently in the research stage to learn and educate myself more about this, and other cars like it......

I used to own a 58' Fury back in the late 80's........but for reason that are irrelavant now, I sold her.........so, from that experience alone....I know some things, just not quite enough.......

So........we're starting fresh now.......with this beauty..........and I'll be asking alot of questions.........hope you don't mind Very Happy

So first.......let me start with asking where would I find a complete brake kit, lines and all, for this car.......
And what of power steering pumps, and power brake systems?
Can I use the power brake pump system that's in the car now?
What should the numbers on my 2x4 manifold be to verify its the correct one??

And please....Mr. EvilPlymouth "Joe", get back to me on your Fury L350.........I would be most interested!

Thanx Everyone!! Very Happy

Welcome James, to the CCC! I see you made it over from the F. look. If it's "Fury SPecific" items you are looking for, we have MANY knowledgable people here like Joe C., Wayne D., John at Big M., etc. any one of these guys can point you in the correct direction. However, Wayne (Bloodhound) has possibly the only known NOS 350 GC engine known at this time.

He has become quite the Expert on everything 350 GC. as well as the 318 Fury stuff as he's built one of those engines as well. Good luck and post progress pics please.

Looks like a decent car to start with.

I would offer the Dodge poly engine for sale over on ForwardLook, as someone there may be needing it, or parts from it.

I'll be eagerly watching for updates on your restoration!!

Hi James,

I'm late to the party (like usual).

Welcome to the club, and congrats on your Fury. She looks like a great candidate for rebuild. Can't wait to see progress pics once you start to thaw out this spring. Very Happy
