PostSubject: A Living Hope   Sun Apr 19, 2015 1:32 pm

In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. 1 PETER 1:3-4

Did Jesus really die and rise from the grave? People have asked this question for centuries. Lee Strobel, a respected journalist and researcher, had his doubts. Did Jesus really die, or did He just faint? Was He really on the cross or was it someone who just looked like Him? When Strobel's wife gave her life to Christ, he decided to investigate the Bible's claims. Hoping to disprove them, he traveled abroad, speaking to archaeologists, doctors and historians. He discovered that there is much more evidence to support the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ than there is evidence for many other well-known historical events that we freely accept as fact. Eventually, Strobel became a believer himself and wrote "The Case for Christ" which has helped lead many into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12. Others try to disprove the Bible, but God's Word stands firm. As believers, the proof is also in our hearts as the Holy Spirit guides us each day and hour. He shows us how to exhibit the love of Jesus Christ in all we do and say. When we fail, He lets us know and shows us how we can do better the next time. This is the basis for our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Insight: Jesus Christ's birth is most significant, dividing history into B.C. (Before Christ) and A.D. (from the Latin, "Anno Domini" the year of the Lord) If our ancestors saw it right to divide history according to Jesus' birth wouldn't it seem right for us to thank God in our heart every time we refer to the calendar?

Dear Lord, Thank you for this living hope that is for each one of us...when we experience the new birth as believers in Your Son, Jesus Christ. You made us acceptable in Your sight by Jesus' death and resurrection. Help me to think of this wonderful gift every time I look at a calendar...for it was 2015 years ago that You sent Your Son into this world to be one of us...for the purpose of showing Yourself to us...and to be our Savior so we can be one with and forever. In Jesus' Name, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers
