For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14

Jesus did not die alone. Two criminals were also led away with Him to be crucified. One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43. Picture two criminals guilty of the same crime, suffering the same penalty, yet heading toward two totally different destinies. One maintained his defiance until the bitter end. The other had a complete change of heart. In biblical terminology, he repented. In that mystical moment, God rescued that robber from the dominion of darkness and brought him into the kingdom of the Son He loves.

Insight: Has that mystical moment happened to you? Admit to God that you are a sinner, tell Him you believe that Jesus paid the price for your sins, cry out to Him to save you, and He will.

Dear God, Thank you for providing the way for me to go to heaven. I know the way is through Your Son, Jesus. I want a humble heart like the repentant thief that died next to Jesus. Use this important portion of scripture, about the crucifixion of Jesus to have an life-changing impact on me. In Jesus' Name, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
