No aftermarket type. Mopar (PLYBO) lenses are a deep red and cost a lot more usually. Marc.

Yep, I agree Brian. Smile

After seeing that busted taillight on her yesterday, I just wanted to make sure that I could find a replacement for it... You know how it goes trying to find parts for these cars...

It's actually really too bad that I did find that busted passenger side taillight on her yesterday. Sad Cause I know for a fact that there was no busted taillight on her before yesterday cause I am very observant and I know that I would've seen that.
So the busted taillight incident happened sometime between 3 days ago and yesterday. (3 days ago I went to see her and she had no busted taillight.)

It sure makes me wonder just what really did happen to her to cause the busted taillight. A taillight just doesn't bust by itself, you know...
I am thinking what happened to her is someone sadly vandalized my car. Sad Darn you, Buddy Repperton! Laughing
Or it could be the possibility of Christine getting hungry and eating her taillight... Laughing

Well Jackie you better get over there and rescue her before anything else happens! Yikes!! :affraid:

The good thing is that tail light lenses are still available and really are the only somewhat cheaper item. Smile

Yep Brian, I will definitely rescue her when I do get enough money saved up. I have almost got enough money now, so hopefully it won't be too much longer before I can rescue her. Smile
I sure hope that nothing else happens to her in the meantime though...

I am happy to hear that the taillight lenses are still available. Smile
Good thing they are too, don't know what I would do if I couldn't find a replacement taillight for her.
I would still buy her, yes, of course I would. I would just have to deal with a missing taillight then...
So yeah, it's a real good thing that you can find replacement taillights. Very Happy

Yep Jackie you should have no problem finding one of those taillights. There are even a few used ones that look good if you want to save a few bucks. Glad to hear your saving up for the car! Good for you! Smile

Yep I am very happy that I can find the replacement taillight. Very Happy
So as I found out from Marc there are 2 types of taillights available: aftermarket "Glo-brite" and the original "PLYBO" ones.
I will be buying the original PLYBO one. Even though it is more spendy, I want her to look original and I prefer original/NOS parts a lot more than aftermarket parts.

But buying Christine comes before buying her replacement taillight or any other parts for her. Smile I am saving ALL of my money for buying her. Smile

But hopefully I can just say "Show Me" when I get Christine, and that will take care of buying any parts for her. Laughing

Have you had a chance to take some photos of her yet Jackie...even from a distance? How about the owner...Have you talked to her recently? Do you think she'll sell her to you? I want you to be careful...have a good long look underneath the car before commiting to buy. If its been sitting that long outside...no telling what's going on underneath. Is it on pavement, gravel or dirt?

Just want you to get a good solid car... Smile

She's in a good, dry climate, Bob. Cars in that area seldom suffer from the ravages of major rust.

No, I actually haven't taken any photos of her Bob. Sorry about that. I have been meaning to, just I haven't yet. Again, I am sorry about that.

About the owner, no I haven't talked to the lady recently. But when I did talk to the lady last, she did say that she would sell her to me, for $2,000.

About the car's condition, Idaho is pretty much a dry climate. Cars don't rust bad here... Even if they are out in an open field...
And the car for the most part out of the weather as well. She's sitting with a roof over her (carport), and concrete underneath her.
And from what I have seen of the car, it looks like she has no rust from what I can tell. Smile So I believe that she might be a good solid car. Smile

You sure got that right John. Smile
From what I have seen is that cars sure don't rust bad in this area. Even if they are out in an open field.

With one of my dad's cars, that car can sure testify to this matter.
So here is the story to that car-
The car is a 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS. This car has been an Idaho car all of her life, and has never left Idaho. The car was even brand new purchased in Idaho, I believe my dad told me it was Soda Springs, Idaho.
But when my dad bought her in '94, she had been sitting out in a field for a very long time. When my dad was restoring her, she had absolutely no rust at all. Some surface rust to be found, but no rust "cancer" at all to be found.

But anyhow, back to the '58 Plymouth. Since she is sitting with a roof over her and concrete underneath her (she's in a carport) and not sitting in a open field, I believe that she will be good and solid. And from what I have seen on her, I don't see any rust. Smile

Jackie, I think the price is very good. Even if it didn't run and was all there. I know im still learning myself about these cars so there are others out there that know a lot more then I do. But with what ive seen selling around here everything starts out at about $2500. And there not in the best of shape at all. Not to mention most at that price range are rusty, missing parts, and dont run..So I think you have a lot going for you on this one from what you are telling us. Just remember to look it over good and im sure your dad will be there to give it a once over as well. Again good luck! Smile

Yep, I think the price is very good too. Smile
I honestly don't think the lady who owns it knows the true value of what the car is worth. Because if she did know, that car would be going for a lot more than $2,000. More like in the $5 to $6,000 range.
Yeah, the car is in that good of condition from what I can tell. Smile
The car is all there too. Has all trim pieces, etc... Also, from what I can tell, I don't see any rust on her.
And if the lady is telling the truth, the car does run/drive.
And trust me, I am telling the truth. I know that I haven't got photos yet to back me up, and I am sorry about that. I have been meaning to, just I haven't yet...

Thanks Brian for the good luck. Smile

I really look forward to the day I buy her as well. Very Happy
I just wish money grew on trees right now- because the lack of my money right now is the only thing holding me back from buying her right now.
And it's not that I am not saving my money- because I am saving ALL of my money to buy her. It's just that I don't have a good income coming in right now...

I think my Christine has possessed at least something of mine. Smile
Most of the time when I go to see my Christine I am listening to my iPod. Cool
And when I turn the corner onto the street where my Christine is located, my iPod starts playing the Christine movie songs. Shocked Not playing the songs in the exact order they were played in the movie, but still playing the songs.
I do have all of the Christine movie songs loaded onto my iPod. Cool But there is absolutely no way, no how, to make the Christine  movie songs play at the same time when I go to see my Christine.
Maybe it's just a coincidence because it's only happened a couple of times. But I don't know, kinda freaky...

So I went by my Christine again today. Smile
Today, I wanted to solve the mystery on whether she's a manual or the pushbutton automatic.
I believe I see the pushbutton automatic selector on the left hand side of the dash. And I am happy about that. Very Happy
1st off, I think those pushbutton automatics are about the coolest type of transmission around. Very Happy
2nd off, I don't drive manual transmissions too well. When I do drive a manual, I pop the clutch- a lot... And the car goes bunny-hopping down the street... Or ends up stalling while I am trying to take off from the stop sign. Embarassed

Also, I think she may have the "Deluxe" steering wheel. Very Happy

I believe I also saw a radio antenna on her front fender too. So I am hoping that means that she has the original radio in her still. And I am hoping that it still works too. Very Happy

And if you are wondering why I am saying "I think", it's because I am still looking at Christine from a distance...

What I mean by looking at the car from a distance is:
The closest I can get to the car without trespassing is there is a alleyway going right by the car. The car is so close to the alleyway that I could reach out and touch the fins on her.
So I can look at the car real close there.

Then there is the sidewalk going by the car, like I am guessing about 20 feet away.

Alright, did I make any sense here?
