Ive sent out a price check on an item from them and im waiting for a reply. But its only been a couple of days. I have heard they might no longer be in business. But I also noticed there web page was updated in 2015. So I went ahead and sent my request to see what happens. I Will let you know if I get a reply. How long has it been for you?

Brian, I was curious about their prices for some parts since they aren't listed, so I filled out the parts request form per their instructions. I filled out and sent the form about 7-10 days ago.

I am hoping they are still around, but I am also curious what kind of stock they might have...some of their photos looked like they were salvaged parts from actual cars.

Bob, I did....waiting to get some title work straightened out.

Well very good! Let me know if and when you get a reply. I will do the same. Don't forget to check your spam folder in your email. I know some of my messages get thrown in there once in awhile. I sure hope they are still around. Did you happen to buy a car? I know you were looking at one time.If so what year did you get? Is it a hardtop?

Cheerio my friend.

When I inquired about parts it took about 1 week for them to get to me. Parts I ordered came in with no issues.

Hi guys, I feel kinda bad now...they responded today! I will just copy and paste the email as it was quite long...unfortunately he looks to be out of the main pieces I may need...

Brian, I am working on a deal for a 58 Belvedere 2 dr, it was listed as a Craigslist find here about a month ago. Several people know about this car, it was on Ebay a couple times over the years. It needs a lot of body work, but it is also very complete, and that was a big part of my search. You can re-create sheet metal, but trim, bumpers, etc are getting near impossible to find.

Here's the email from Black Car:

Hello Eric,

Thank you for the parts inquiry. Unfortunately, we are currently sold out of the RFP-25B, QPFS-13, and HL-6 panels for the 1958 Plymouth. With that said, we can still supply the dogleg panels (DL-29A) and inner headlight panels (HLI-6). Price for those are as follows.

Dogleg panel (DL-29A) - left and right - $125.00 each
Inner headlight panel (HLI-6) - left and right - $135.00 each

We also might still have some full size door skins, but would have to check. Let me know if you are interested in those and I will confirm.

Please note that the dogleg panel can be used to repair the front lip of the rear wheel opening with some minor modification (cutting), so that could be used to at least give you a solid front edge on the right side of your car.

As for the parts from your list, the best I can offer is I can add you to our parts wanted list and if/when we get any in we would contact you to see if you are still in need. If you want to be added to the list, just let me know.

If you are interested in any of the above listed panels, please respond to this email and include what you are interested in along with a shipping address. I will then reply with a total price and payment options. Thank you.

Well my part number is as follows. RFP 25BX. Which is a lower rear quarter panel. It makes me wonder though if that isn't out of stock also. Time will tell.

Thanks Eric for the bit of info. I do hope the best for your project. I will post what they tell me also.

Thanks again!

Eric, That sounds good. I only need the lower passenger side rear quarter. It would be nice if they still have them. When I first ran across these guys I always thought they made the panels. But as luck would have it they must of just had a surplus of these repair type parts. So once they were out they were out.

I still haven't heard back from them but it hasn't been long. So if you hear something first Eric just let me know.

Thanks!

Brian.

Hi Brian,

Pete emailed me today and said the panels he has date back to the 70s...so therefore any stock he has, he has to find first. Looks like some metal fab hours are in my future...

Well Eric, I had a hunch that the panels were some old stock type replacements he had or had means of getting. Looks like the water hole is about dried up! I was hoping to get a few replacement parts myself just to make things a bit easier.

Eric is there pictures of this car you are going to tackle on the CCC? Im trying to think if ive seen it or not before.

Thanks again for the info. And good luck with your project.

Well I got an email from Pete today from Black Car. And the lower rear quarter im looking for is out of stock. But he did tell me he should be getting more in stock in 2-3 weeks. Which would be very promising.

I am going to email him and ask him if these are some NOS aftermarket type replacements or if these are being cut off of actual parts cars. Its got me curious..

Eric...It's good of you to help others here that are looking for patch panels too. I lost track of this thread as I've been a little distracted with getting ready for winter 'round here. I want to say a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you though. I'm very happy to hear you've bought the 58 Plymouth that you've been looking for...for such a long time. I can't wait for you to get it...and look forward to more photos...and possibly another build thread here... Very Happy

Congratulations!!

Bob

It still isn't a done deal Bob, it will be when the car is in my garage and the title in my hands...

Brian, I've found that many old cars with rusty rear wheel wells, the right side is almost always worse. My theory is: these cars were driven a lot in winter, salt/sand etc, tends to be more concentrated towards the shoulder side of the road...also, the right rear wheel is receiving most of the torque and therefore more likely to "rooster tail" any road crap up into and on the rear wheel well.

There's my Bill Nye for the day Wink

Well Eric that makes sense to me then. After you explained it that way I can see what you mean.

Also I did get another email from Pete today about the parts he is getting in. He told me the parts are old after market repair panels from the sixties and seventies. He mentioned they are good replacement panels from US manufactures that made them. He will base the price once he gets them in and on there condition. So in a few weeks at most we should know.
