Nice! That looks like the car that was on ebay last year, I believe it was in Alabama. Does it have a console from a 60's mopar and red pleated interior?

57Belv, ya that's the same car. It has a 383 in it. The guy that got it off eBay wasn't too impressed with it once he got it in person. A decent amount of bodywork needs redone, and I guess the eBay seller didn't disclose any of that.

It looks like your typical back yard restoration/paint job...a classic "10 footer". The reason is appealing to me, is it's 95% complete as far as trim and hard to find crap. Sheet metal can be fixed/replaced, but it could take forever to track down all the trim, etc.

It exceeds my expectations for what it is, unfortunately for the guy before me it didn't. He was hoping for a nice turn key car, and it needed more work than he signed up for. Another case of buyer beware on eBay....ugh

She's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved that car last year as well. I saw value in it - for the same reason as you.

Congratulations!

I'd be willing to bet the car was not as bad off as the former owner made it out to be, especially if he saw some of the stuff others have had to deal with, I mean she certainly looks good! But everyone has differing ideas on what's good and what's bad. I'm glad your happy with her!

Chris.

He sent a bunch of undercarriage pics, rockers, etc...sometimes a flash makes things look way worse than they are rust wise....my initial inspection now that I have it in person is not nearly as bad as I expected. In fact, there's only two spots of bondo I found, the left eyebrow, and the left dogleg.

When I got it, the hubcaps were off and the fender spears....fortunately I found them in the trunk. What I still need to procure, is a hood emblem, and both mirrors. It has one square ugly mirror from the 60s that looks way out of place. I also need to find a front bench seat eventually as I'd like to return the interior to stock.

I will get some better pics for you guys soon. Smile

It's so nice when something turns out to be better than you initially thought! Shoot, my car has bondo all over the place. It sounds like your off to a good start.

Chris.

Of course I want to tear into it right away...but the fact is it is running and driving...so I might just enjoy as is for a season or so next year...but probably get the mechanical and electrical stuff sorted out. In the mean time I plan on starting to aquire parts immediately for it.

I'd like to restore my 59 F-100 as a warm up to this car, so that's my game plan. The Ford isn't going to be a full frame off...but will be a bed off/strip the paint and bodywork and get the body dialed in. Those old Ford trucks are rusty in certain spots and this one is no exception...my goal is to excise the bondo and get metal back in there.

Glad to see you've found your dream car, Eric!!

Pretty sure I have a hood badge for sale, as well as a decent set of mirrors.

Congratulations! I agree about the importance of finding a complete car! Parts are soooooo difficult to find for these cars, but it's soooooo worth it Twisted Evil

Everyone loves this car...my friends and family know I have been talking about 58 Plymouths for about the last 30 years...so it's fun to share my enthusiasm with them. My sister made me take about 50 pictures of her in the car today...LOL

BigM, can I email or call you regarding those parts I am in search of?? Thank you!!
