Sometimes I really can't stand the operators running the salvage yards in our state! There are so few that still have the old classics and the ones that still do should hold on to any new arrivals. Case and point, French Lake Auto, one of the larger yards with old cars had cleaned house several years ago. It's a 100 acre site that used to have a lot of mopar stuff. Quite a few 57-58 Plymouths were there along with other mopar lines. There's only a fraction of what was there before so space in not an issue. I was pleased when I made a trip there in the spring of 2015 to see that they had a newly acquired 1958 Plaza there, so recent in fact that it hadn't been cataloged yet. I got a few items from that car and figured I would return later for more but I didn't get back the rest of the year. I thought, no problem, the guy from the yard said it will be there a long time cause they don't crush the classics like that anymore. WRONG! I just found out that the car was crushed! ARG!!! Despicable! Mad

Unfortunately very few people these days see the value in much of anything anymore. We've become a throw away society. Imagine where we'd be if it weren't for John at big M... SCREWED!

Just yesterday my wife asked me to buy a small guitar amp for my daughter. I said.. "we have a beautiful vintage fender reverb amp that just needs to be gone through." She said.. "It's old junk from the 60's and weighs 100 pounds." I said.. "EXACTLY and it's worth thousands of dollars." She said.. "Your like Hitler forcing us to keep old junk." My reply... "No I'm Not!" Her reply..."Can we sell it?"

My reply...

Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee! Hee! lol!

lol!  I played it (loud) for 43 seconds and laughed hysterically the whole time.  lol! Debbie didn't think it was so funny. No

Good one Wayne! Just about as good as when you attached that clip from Psycho quite a while ago. Remember that one? Wish I could remember that thread.

Anyways...I'm with you Wayne. We've replaced some things around here and now I wish I didn't. For instance, our mattress. We had a great old two-sided Sealy mattress for 15-20 years up until 4 years ago. We thought it was starting to sag a bit so went out and bought a new one-sided Serta. Long story short...we're on our 4th mattress (all warranty) in 4 years. Just had another brought into the house last week and it too is sagging already. Each time it costs more to upgrade. The salesmen call this sagging, "normal body impressions." Back in the old days, those mattresses were called worn out. No

I remember that post Bob. Not sure what the thread was about. It all started one day when my brothers and I were watching movies in the 80's. We were between the ages of 5 and 12 if I remember right. My dad had just bought our very first VCR. We were enthralled and amazed at the idea of being able to watch something whenever you wanted. We would watch the same 3 movies every day over and over. They were Christine, Missing in Action (Chuck Norris) and Tourist Trap. As you may know the subject matter and language were very bad in all three. When my dad finally realized what we were doing he stormed into the room and screamed that it was about time we watched something enriching and of a quality subject matter. He turned off the VCR, spun the dial on the TV and said... "There! Watch This!" No sooner did he say that and this is what we saw...

We jumped to our feet and cheered like we were watching the superbowl! Needless to say, my dad laughed with us and then turned off the tv. That night at dinner we kept asking him if he was sure he wouldn't have a sandwich. Smile

Chris, The more I look at that car the more I wonder if they took any parts off of it before they crushed it. I see a part I could have used! I cant believe FL would have crushed that so soon being they just got it not to long ago. I know the car isn't in very good shape but geeeezzzz. Rolling Eyes  Give that poor old car a break! That poor little guy..  Sad

I know right? I mean, how does a yard that is supposed to cater to the classic car market, justify scrapping a car like that that had recently arrived? They decimated their stock of 50's era mopars so you'd think they would want to replenish the yard.

Well apparently I just got a message from French Lake Auto stating that the information I received was in error. It said that the car was not crushed but had in fact been sold to a local customer. Maybe they just said that to alleviate my concern, who knows?

Very, very sad... Sad Sad Sad I sure hope they didn't crush her and that someone saved her. Probably the #1 thing I hate most in this world is car crushers; if car crushers aren't at my #1 of most hated things they sure rank right up there...
By the way Chris, are you sure you got the name right of this place, French Lake Auto? It looks a whole lot more like Darnell's Garage to me...lol!
