So, the fun has begun. I'm delving into boxes and crates of parts that I haven't laid eyes on in 10 years. Low and behold what do I find? 3.. count em...3 power steering pumps.

I don't recall what pump Christine had in the movie so I could use your help CCC! Here's what I have. Two look almost identical and appear to have the same number. Yet the mounting brackets are different as are the reservoir caps. The 3rd is a total oddball. What are we looking at here?

Nice...it's good to have options. I imagine those first two are Federals. If I remember right, Federal should be in the casting on the right side. Perhaps the brackets are for small block and big block? I'll look at my 318 set up and let ya know...

My service manual is at the electric shop so I have no reference material to look at. I thought the first two were Thompson pumps and I have no idea on the 3rd. scratch

Have you got a factory power steering pump on Green Christine Bob?

I did a lot of research on my pump about a year ago. Problem is...I forgot a lot of it. You certainly may be right about yours being Thompsons. However, I do remember this Wayne. Mine looked to be correct according to the FSM...so apparently it was transferred over from my car's original 318. Here's a couple photos. Looks to be different from yours.

Thank you for your input Bob. Looks like you are right about the bracketry. One is no doubt for the 318 and the other for the 350. As for your pump I'd venture a guess that it is not a 58 pump, unless they used more than the two I pictured. I did find these pics though and it looks to me like I have two options depending on what I decide to go with...

The 350 equipped cars I have seen in the past were equipped with the Vickers pump, [your third one shown, Wayne.] Again, they may have used the Thompson pumps at some assembly plants, as this was common practice then.

Thanks John. Shame on the Vickers pump. It's newly rebuilt and I'm missing the pulley. Sad Looks like I'll be rebuilding the Thompson. I like the look of it anyway. Gonna have to watch the movie to see what Christine had. Smile
