Figured this would be a good weekend to replace the severely worn out water pump on the plymmie. Found some more ugh while in there.

Now the uggy, the water neck was banged up pretty good but the worst is the core support No

I know you have found a few parts cars up near you...Any of 'em have a good core support? Was this a surprise Chris?

Bob

I have photos of the core support from one of the parts cars and it's as bad as mine, so I'm going to guess that the others are just as rusted but I'm not certain. I didn't know the support was so far gone, I had seen a glimpse of the rust but it didn't look this severe.

Sorry about the core support Chris. That's a bummer to say the least. I hope you can find a solid one near you. Still, there's always BigM to consider when in a pinch.

On the other hand the motor looked clean. That could have been a lot worse.

Water pumps are evil. They pick the most inopportune times to go out, usually when you're many miles away from home, and on a hot summer day. I know, cause what I just described is exactly what happened to me one time. I learned that when the water pump's going on the fritz, don't delay it and think it'll wait to when you get around to it, just fix it then so it doesn't leave you stranded someplace. That rust is evil too that you got there. Personally, if it was me, I'd look for a better one, cause that amount of rust looks like it has sacrificed the whole thing. I don't even know if you were to take that to an auto body shop if they could fix that, but they might cause they can do some pretty amazing stuff with rust, but it'll probably be pretty costly, so it might be just cheaper to get a better one.

Well, I decided to start tackling the rear seat, it's water damaged and was mouse infested and all I can say is YUCK! I was surprised to see the original 57 material still in place though.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

If you still need a rust-free core support, let me know, Chris.

Wow, that's surprising why the original seat covers were still on! Looks like the previous owner was cutting corners? Shocked

Thanks John, I'm still waiting to check out the other Savoy again to see if I want to obtain it for parts.
