Here is a few pics of the 57 I bought for part for my 58.   It is loaded with fiddlebacks right now.  Going to throw some bugbombs in it tomorrow before I start cleaning all the trash out I the interior.  I will get better pics tomorrow.  Its loaded with goodies:  power steering, power brakes, AC and good front and rear aprons. and is only showing about 65k miles.

Fiddlebacks?

Please explain what these are for us north easterners...

Wow...what a treasure trove of great parts!

Bob

Bob.  Fiddleback is another name for the Brown Recluse spider.   Very poisonous that rots the area around the bite.  I won't post pics here but look up brown recluse bite pictures.   These spiders are about the size of a nickel and mostly stay out of site, hence the name. They really like paper and cardboard and this cars back seat is loaded with old papers.

Thanks Jeff...yes, I've heard of the brown recluse spider. Scary stuff!

Please keep us up on your progress. Great stuff!

Parts car????????? Shocked

It even looks better than the one i've bought and sent home to the other side of the ocean to restore, and even has PW, and it seems to have A/C too... And the complete side trim...

You're very lucky!!!

Pau

Ha Ha Pau I was thinking the same thing. It would be hard to part out a car like that for me. Its got a lot of goodies! Smile

But then again I seem to try and save everything! Laughing

I normally wouldn't part out such a complete car but my 58 2dr will greatly benefit from this 4dr

Wow, that is one complete looking 57 Belvedere! I would have such a hard time making the decision to part that one out... I'd have a much easier time deciding to restore the car, than parting it out... But also since I like the 4 doors as well, along with the 2 doors. But if you're using it to restore a 2 door, I guess its ok... Is it a 2 door hardtop? Do you have any photos of your 2 door? Smile

Nice 58! It looks really sharp in black. Question, why did you need a parts car, it looks fairly complete to me... Smile

Jackie.
My car needs several small items such as brackets, PS steering wheel (my 58 is a factory PS car but it has a 300C steering wheel on it. , the wiring harness (which is very nice in the 57. The wire covering is still soft and plyable. My 58 has had almost all of the wiring cut out of it. Only has the ignition wires, no wiring for any lights or accessories.) the Torqeflight, rear lower aprons, gas tank,  the stainless strip under the trunk lid, radiator,  a rear bumper for a core and the dash chrome is much nicer then mine plus I get power brakes and factory AC.
Nearly all the trim on mine is siliconed on due the last owners painter must have lost/broke the clips.  So I will use as many of these that will interchange.
Also, the frame on my 58 is pretty beat up on the bottom of the rails. It was pulled from a ditch 25 years ago and put back on the road. If the frames are the same, I will be using the 57 frame under the 58.
I figure it is cheaper to use a complete car for parts then to buy all of the needed pieces individually and I will have several parts to sell to recoup some of my money back.

Oh I see... Well its nice that the 57s and 58s have a lot of interchangeable parts. Good luck! Smile
