When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

People that live in the Pacific Northwest or in the Northeast of America tend to have higher rates of being diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). They are forced to spend time under "unnatural light" to maintain energy levels that are characteristic of their lives during the sunny summer months. Mid-December finds these people sleeping too many hours, unable to accomplish simple tasks, bouts of depression or even to think clearly. But now with the light treatments, they can be much more active. One could tease them that they are “solar powered.”

As many people are hanging Christmas lights outdoors for all to enjoy, this is a good time to consider what is my light source? Jesus, the true light of the world, brings energy, warmth and peace to our lives. Let all those decorative Christmas lights remind you of this. By stilling our hearts before Him and reflecting on all He has done for us, He naturally lights us up and renews us. He becomes our Light Source as we become “Jesus powered” for the tasks of the day.

Insight: We no longer have to walk in darkness. Jesus walks with us and lights the path as we go. Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests. Luke 2:14

Reader's Prayer: Dear God, "Light me up" and make Jesus my light source. I want to be able to live a life that will glorify you as my Father in Heaven. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
