“And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7

No room for them in the inn. When you think about it, even two thousand years later...isn't it ironic? Especially today in a world that's trying harder and harder every year to crowd Jesus out. "Seasons Greetings! Happy Holidays!" Think about it though; even when not intentional, where busyness abounds, hearts are stirred to focus on anything but what's most important. Did the words "Merry X-mas" ever make you wonder? It really upsets me to see people X-ing Christ out of Christmas.

It can seem impossible sometimes to choose to keep Him first. It’s all too easy to get caught up in the whole hurried dash of getting everyone that perfect gift, and to give our attention to anything else that seems more urgent. Our focus gets blurred and the most important always seems to get pushed aside, especially in a culture that prefers to use His name as a swear word or to cuss when something goes wrong. Clearly, there's no room for Jesus when His Name is used in vain. It takes a spiritual awakening and daily choice to put Christ first. If we haven't already, let's make room for Jesus this Christmas season.

Insight: Jesus is the only One who brings true meaning to Christmas. He is the only One who brings real peace in this all-too-often hectic season. He is the only One worthy of our time and attention as we slow down the maddening rush. "Wise Men Still Seek Jesus."

Dear God, Help me to choose wisely as to where I give my attention today. Never do I want the attitude that there's no room for my heart. Please forgive me for giving too much time and attention to other things that always prove time and time again to be meaningless. Help me to reflect on what Christmas is really all about. That You came down here; to earth as the Christ child to give us new life, peace, hope and joy. That You planned before the foundations of the earth for Jesus to lay down His own life on the cross to be the payment for my sins. What a Savior and Friend I have in Jesus! Help me to remember that the gift of Jesus Christ is my greatest treasure, not just at Christmas but for the whole year through. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

I'm certainly guilty of using the Lords name in vain and I'm not proud of myself for it, thank you for posting this Bob as a constant reminder that we should endeavor to improve our relationship with God. Amen, And Merry Christmas.

Well said Bob and Chris. I'm guilty of it as well. I pray for the strength to put Christ first. Seems to get harder and harder to do. Working long hours, the mania of holiday shopping and the cest pool society we live in today seeks to damn us for all eternity as it pulls us away from Christ. May God almighty give us the strength and presence of mind to stay close to him and our savior this new year!
