PostSubject: Heart Trouble?   Sun Feb 19, 2017 12:57 pm

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14

The Bible reveals to us that there is a God-shaped vacuum in our hearts. We have a hole in our hearts that only God can properly fill. We were created to be connected to our know Him and to be plugged into His divine power. In plain words, your heart is designed to contain God!

God wants to live inside of you but when your life is filled with other things, there's no room in your heart for God. This means you're not plugged into God's power. And that could be why you're tired, stressed out or why you spend a lot of time worrying. And that's why the Bible says the un-spiritual person has no room for the gifts that come from God's Spirit. It's not that God doesn't want to give them to you; it's that you can't handle the gifts because your heart is filled with so many other things.

Here's a good analogy...especially for us classic car lovers. How many people do you know who have their cars parked in their driveway all the time because there's no room in their garage. Garages are made for cars right? That's why most every house has one or two. Parking the family car in the garage is what gives the garage its purpose. It shields the car from the sun, rain, snow or from even being broken into right? But we fill our garages up with all kinds of other stuff that they were never designed to hold. This holds true in our hearts as well. Your heart was made to contain God, but when you fill it with other stuff like covetousness, stress or guilt, you have no room for God.

It is certainly possible that your heart may be crowded with good things too like work, sports or hobbies. But they were never designed to take first place in your heart either. In fact, you may even be serving God and working for God and still miss God! Even good things do not have the power to hold your life together when tough times come. And that's why your life starts falling apart.

Insight: Now is the time to de-clutter your life. What things have a greater priority than God? What do you think about the most? The answer to that reveals who or what has first place in your heart.

Reader's prayer: Dear God, I want You to have first place in my heart. I know this can only happen by first receiving your Son, Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. John 14:6 states: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. I come to You now by asking Jesus to forgive me of my sins, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Help me to de-clutter my life and make You my priority. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
