PostSubject: New Front Brake Drums (11x2)    Fri Aug 25, 2017 2:13 pm

Dear CCC Members,

I need to replace my front brake drums in my 1958 Fury.
I understand that the dimensions for the front brake drums are 11x2".

These are proving very difficult to find.
Would anyone be able to suggest where I may find these drums ? Or have a suggestion what I can do?

Many thanks!
David

I know the Plaza, Savoy, and Belvedere used 11x2 but I thought Fury's used 12 inch drums because they're the "performance" car. I'll have to do some lookin'.

Thanks 57Belv,

I have been checking and it seems that the drums were all the same on all models in 1958 - 11 x 2 ... So, to my thinking, rear and front should also interchangeably fit?

Thanks also to 58Belvedere,

The link is good - but the auction closed and none left in the store, but I will keep my ears open for any other suggestions....

Back in the day (1960's) I converted my 58 Belvedere over to the 12 inch set up used by the Chrysler New Yorker. No problems were encountered with this swap and braking was much improved. With the conversions for installing disc brakes this is just useless information but I hope some of you find it interesting. Since my belvedere would bury the speedometer I thought it would be a good idea if she had good stopping power. I was not disappointed in the results. By the way, I was able to use the 15" Chrysler rims and the huge tires (by Plymouth standards) that came o the New Yorker.
