PostSubject: 1958 Plymouth Fury Golden Commando.FLP350 or L350??   Sat Feb 18, 2012 5:01 pm

I have spoken to a few people here in regards to the above question.I have been told the Fury Block# begin with L-350.But in doing a search on that I have found the following being stated in various sites like "Plymouth Central" and Golden Fins in Hemmings.

I attempted to provide you with the link but the administrator wont allow new members.

Golden Fin Society states the following."The 350 Engine number was FLP-350- (replacement & non-Fury 350s began with L-350); the 318 engine numbers began with FLP8 in 1958."

Can the voices of experienced help out? What a Face

I had two GC 350's One a stick motor the other had a auto. Both were stamped L 350

One stamping did not have the "0." I think,,,,,, too long ago, there was a dash - on one stamping but not the other.

I have answered your question here twice on PM's and now this tread. Trust me, I am an Administrator because I know what I'm talking about. No disrespect to you. Now "alumcantandthd" has just advised you of the same thing. FLP was for Fury 318's ONLY!!!!! L350's stated L 350 Fury or Dodge.

I stand corrected. On a different note are the following the correct part numbers for this engine.

Heads:1737629-1 or 1737635-1
Intake:1827899-1 EX.casting Date J13-7
Distributor:1779983
Water Pump:1859251
Passenger side Manifold:1739599-3 /or 1851817-1
Block Stamped;"L350,55600"

The above is some information that might be helpful to future members looking to purchase a Original "Golden Commando"

Just hoping that the powers that be will add or create a FAQ topic on the Golden Commando motor.Explaining to us NewBies Very Happy about part numbers ,decoding casting dates and the prices on these .

Dont know how accurate the above is but hope it helps someone.

im not so sure everyone will need all this information for an engine which was only produced for one year and basically discarded in the past by hotrodders and racers. if one of these engines are found it most likely will still be in the car it was originally installed back in 58. i personally will be looking for the slanted distributor before i scrape the small square block to reveal the numbers L350
