Are the sedan and hardtop rear seats completely different for 57-58?

I have a rear seat set from a 58' 2 dr hardtop, and they are nowhere near fitting my 57' 2 dr Sedan. The cutout on the seat for the rear wheel wells is too small. Doh.

Is the 4dr sedan and 2 dr sedan rear seats the same? I may know where there is a 4dr sedan parts car I could get seats from.

Coming to Montana to pick up a parts car and is planning on stopping by to see me on Saturday. I am getting excited on Meeting him and M'Lisa his wife. Cool But he will be home 1st of the week, He will defiantly Know. Smile

Sedan seats and Hd TOp seats are totally different. I tried this already and the sedan seat doesn't have the rear arm rest the Hd top has therefore, it is wider than the Hd top seat.

Boy I read these post and say to myself I am so lucky with the parts that came with my car. Rear seat was still in it and was in great shape. A 60-40 front in great shape came with it. The front is not for a 58 , but is a mopar from the era and looks in shape like the 58 Fury seat. I don't know how well a 4 DR rear matches up with the sedan Rick.

The back is the same from a 4dr sedan but the seat base frame is different, as the 4dr is rounded off so as to make getting through the door easier and the outer edges on the 2dr sedan are squared off to meet up with the inner panels. It would be possible to weld pieces to the base and rework the springs on the seat base but it is probably better to try and find a 2dr seat base

FYI, the ENTIRE rear seat is different in 4dr SEDAN vehicles. The 2dr Hd top models had their own rear seat assy. The 4dr HD TOP model I'm not sure about. The rear seat in a 2dr HD top is "Cut out" in the back portion as well as the bottom portion. So, No cheap easy-to-find rear seats from 4dr's.

Correct me if I'm wrong but RacerRick has a 2dr sedan, so yes the back of the seat from a 4dr sedan will fit. The seat base will fit aswell but as I stated before it would need reshaping to look right so unless he wants to do that then he should continue looking for a 2dr sedan base

Correct, as long as it's SEDAN to SEDAN.. Not Hd top to sedan and Vice Versa.

OP asked why a Hd top seat won't fit his Sedan....

I have a 2 dr sedan....and the seats I bought were hardtop seats.

Anyone want to trade a set of rough seat cores from a HT for a similar set from a sedan? I will have to get them recovered no matter what, so only seat fram condition is important.

Rick-

If you will pay the shipping cost, I'll send you a set of sedan rear seat cushions free of charge, then can you send your hardtop ones out to Tyler [Crazy 58Fury] as he will be needing them eventually.

Maybe you guys can work something out with the shipping on those to New York.
