FYI.....Well everyone I have battling how to get a new sure grip in our 58 Tapered 8 3/4 Rear End!!! This has been alot of phone calls and trial and error.....

Using a Fury Center Section and non Fury Axles: It is best to use the second generation Sure Grip from 1965(better unit) which fits in the pumpkin w/ the Fury 3:31 Gears and Install Kit however the axles for a Fury are shorther by an 1/8" on both. The standard Axles are 30" long and will need to be machined down the 1/8" which will give a flush mount for Axle bearing/race. That will then be followed by the shims to achieve the .008-.010 thousand needed for correct end play.

Joe, you have been the Guinnea Pig on this type set up. ALOT of GOOD info here. So far, this has remained a mystery to most, but you have built a "Fury" rear.

Thanks guys, yeah I have been trying to get the newer Sure Grip(Chaney Built for Me) to fit in the 58 Fury 741 Center Section. Normally you would need to make a custom shim 1/8" thick however I just am not comfortable doing that. Do it once, do it the right way.
