What is weighing on you today? Is there a loved one in need? Do you have a relationship in trouble? Are you facing a problem with no apparent solution? Do you feel alone? Like a soothing salve to the anxious heart, this promise in Philippians 4 is for you ... today.
Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
Unfortunately, anxiety does not come with an off-switch. One of the most complex human emotions, anxiety warns us that something is wrong and needs attention. It is not an inherently bad thing, especially if it drives us to our knees in prayer. Yet prayer is often the last thing we think to do.
Only through Jesus, we have access to the very throne room of heaven...and the Spirit will intercede for us even when we are lost for words. ...the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26
This particular scripture tells us that even when we don't know how to pray, we are not hindered. God would not invite us to bring our cares and requests before Him if He did not plan to act.
And His promise is not that all our requests will be granted, but that the peace of Jesus Christ will guard our hearts. And that is better by far!

Prayer: Dear Lord, When I am anxious about anything, help me to turn to You through Your Son Jesus in prayer. I want your peace which transcends all understanding. In Jesus' Name, Amen
