BUT SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU AS WELL. MATTHEW 6:33

It's no secret that we live in a world of stress and anxiety. People carry immense burdens. Yet no human being in history ever carried anything like the burden Jesus bore. If anyone had an excuse to be stressed-out and anxious, it was He.

But was He? Jesus knew what lay ahead. He knew that He would carry the sin of the world on the cross. And yet He could say, "Tomorrow will worry about itself ... each day has enough trouble of its own." In the presence of Jesus, people sensed something they lacked. Those seeking God found peace in the presence of Christ. He was entirely without anxiety or doubts. His trust in the Father was complete.

Is it possible for us to know that kind of contentment? According to Jesus, we can start by daily refocusing our attention on God's kingdom and pursuing His righteousness. Yet we cannot do any of this without His help. Only by His power do our hearts resonate with kingdom priorities as we are transformed into His image. May you grow in contentment through Him.

INSIGHT: THE PEACE OF GOD ALWAYS COMES AS A RESULT OF SPENDING TIME IN HIS WORD AND IN PRAYER.
(READ PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7.)

Dear Lord, Give us an intense desire to spend time with You by reading Your Holy Word and talking to You in Prayer. Nothing is more important and we should always start our day in this way. In Jesus' Name, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Excellent post Bob. We should start a thread similar to Jim's Roll call every morning with a simple bible verse to contemplate throughout the day ending in a prayer for that day. Up to the challenge as club chaplain? We'll call it our "Daily Bread Thread"..

LIKE THE SOUND OF THAT! Smile

I like your enthusiasm Wayne...not sure if I could consistently do that each and every day though. I don't have a routine of hopping on the computer every morning now....sometimes I'm not able to get on till much later in the day. I've gotten in the routine of doing the devotions (anytime) on Wed./Thurs. and then again on Sat./Sun. That's been working out well.

Bob
