PostSubject: Humble and Contrite in Spirit?   Wed Jun 04, 2014 12:11 pm

Has not My hand made all these things, and so they came into being?' declares the Lord. This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My Word. ISAIAH 66:2

God is not looking for a temple of stone for His dwelling place. He is looking for hearts that are not concerned with the externalizations of religion. He wants those who take His Word seriously. Jesus said, "If anyone loves Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." John 14:23

But what happens when we do not obey His teaching? Does God not love us then? Isn't it every day (every hour!) that we disobey? When our world constantly presents us with what is spectacular or sensational, those things begin to look much more attractive than obedience to God. Hmmmm....

Do not despair though...for the One that this world did not esteem at all - the One with no physical beauty to attract us to Him - came to be punished for our failures and to be crushed for our sins. Before that day came at Calvary, He lived His perfect life for us. Our shortcomings are replaced with Jesus' faultless obedience. With gratitude, we strive to obey, and because our Savior has stood in our place, we have hope!

INSIGHT: HOW PROFOUNDLY HUMBLING THAT THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE WOULD BE PLEASED TO DWELL IN MY SIN-STAINED HEART!

Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for making Your dwelling place in my heart and for Your patience with me. I'm sorry I continue to fail You Lord, but because of You, my heart's desire remains for a humble and contrite spirit that will be obedient to Your Word. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
