Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. PSALM 107:8-9
During their 40 years of wilderness wanderings after Moses led them out of slavery in Egypt, the Israelites experienced God's gracious hospitality and provision at every turn. Each morning, the ground was covered with fresh, sweet, nourishing manna. God's people had only to stoop down and gather enough for that day's use.
Like them, I bend down each morning and pick up my Bible from the floor next to my reading chair. God's Word is the spiritual manna that I know I need on a daily basis. As I feast on His wisdom and encouragement, my gracious Host speaks to me, filling my heart with just what I need and crave. As I live out the day these passages of Scripture minister to me and enable me to walk closely with my Creator in a very meaningful and special way.
Have you feasted on God's Word in the morning? Have you experienced the hospitality of your Heavenly Father as He calls you to sit down and fellowship with Him? His Word is our daily filling, with fresh insight that our souls must have to thrive. He delights to feed us with this nourishing, powerful, life-giving manna. Without it, we navigate the "wilderness" at our own peril!
INSIGHT: Life in this 21st century can certainly become a searing desert for us. Jesus Christ is the Word and the Word is Jesus Christ, an oasis our souls are thirsting for!
Dear Lord, Give me an intense desire to make it my personal habit to sit down with You and your Word each day to feed my soul. I want to grow in my Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
