What shall we say then, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?   Romans 6:1-2

Do you try to live a good life? What is your motivation for doing so? Is it fear of God's rejection or fear of His condemnation? Peer pressure? Or perhaps you try to live a good life to avoid the disapproval of others.

Before the coming of Christ and His covenant of grace, when the covenant of law was God's way of dealing with Israel, we were all under a fear of condemnation from God as our primary motivation to lead a godly life. But in Christ we have freedom we did not have under that law. It's not freedom to sin; it is freedom from the burden of the law. We obey God out of grateful joy, not out of cowering fear.

God's grace is large enough to cover a multitude of sins, but the Lord is mocked if you sin and expect grace because you think you have a "get out of jail free" card from Him. Don't easily give into sin because you think you have easy grace. The price of grace and its freedom was the death of Christ on the cross - a great price no one else in all of time has ever been willing or able to pay.

Dear Lord, Help me to live a good life because it is pleasing to You...not out of fear of condemnation or because of cheap grace but out of gratitude because of what you did for me at Calvary. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen[/color]

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers
