Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! Isaiah 30:18

A few days after Thanksgiving, I was decorating the house for Christmas. I turned on my favorite Christmas songs as I prepared the house for the holidays. As I was nearing completion, I longed for those I loved to come fill my house and share the excitement of my preparations. It occurred to me at that moment, that in a way...God feels like that, too.

Let us talk about the Incarnation of Christ. It's a central Christian doctrine backed up by scripture that God became flesh, assumed a human nature, and became a man in the form of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The divine nature of the Son of God was perfectly united with human nature in one divine Person, Jesus, making him both truly God and truly man.

The incarnation has two sides to it: First...God loved us so much, that He became one of us, walked and dwelled among us, limited Himself in a human body, came to our house (earth) and called it His own. But the other side is that He did all of that because He ultimately wants to bring us to His house (heaven) to live forever. He longs to have His house filled with as many of us as possible; to those who sincerely make the choice to believe in His Son, Jesus and receive Him as their Lord and Savior. God desires to share in the wonder of the place that He has prepared for us. His gracious hospitality awaits us! Jesus said, "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am..." John 17:24. And through His finished work on the cross, He made it possible!

Insight: Jesus, the ultimate Host...not only prepared His House and wants to welcome you at the door, but He also provided the costly travel arrangements. Have you ever considered what the incarnation of Jesus Christ cost God? God's salvation plan called for His Son to be the perfect sacrifice for every sin every human being on earth. With this in mind, have you ever considered how deep the Father's love is for you? Have you ever responded to His love?

Dear God, Help me to understand how deep Your love is for me. I want to realize just how much You're waiting to share the place You have prepared for me. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers
