PostSubject: The Purpose of Christmas   Mon Dec 29, 2014 6:34 pm

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners... 1 Timothy 1:15

The apostle Paul was writing to Timothy telling him why Jesus Christ came into the world. His purpose was to save sinners..you and me! The same is true today as it was 2000 years ago. It is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. Full acceptance for me and you! We need to be humble of heart and be fully accepting of the fact that Jesus Christ's death and resurrection was totally worthy to save us from our sins.

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:9

We cannot understand God's immense love for each one of us. On the first Christmas God sent His only Son, Jesus into the world so that we might live through Him. This is not talking about the life that we are living now. It's eternal life in heaven after this life is over. You may not know...or...perhaps You may know that Jesus is the Savior of the world...but is Jesus your Savior?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Here's another scripture reference from the apostle, John about God's great love for the world (us)...He's offering whoever believes in His Son, Jesus, everlasting life...which is in other words, life with God forever in heaven, instead of perishing after this life here on earth. Perishing is a rather benign way of describing eternal life in hell where there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Insight: Religion will not save your soul from an eternal hell. Good deeds won't either. There will be no scale in heaven to weigh your good deeds and your bad deeds. Only a personal saving relationship with Jesus Christ will save you!

Dear Lord, I thank you for sending Jesus to earth to be my Savior. Now, I understand the purpose for Christmas. I want Jesus to be my personal Savior. I receive Him now and ask You to forgive me of my sins. In Jesus' Name I pray Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers
