PostSubject: Good Friday   Thu Apr 02, 2015 11:29 pm

But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6-7.

It is ugly; it is the darkest day in history. And yet we call it Good Friday. Watching the movie, The Passion, was the closest I ever came to understanding the grisly suffering of the cross. But Hollywood's best can't portray what Jesus Christ really went through. Many even go to Jerusalem and walk in the very places Jesus may have stepped on His way to His death. This could stir wonder and awe, but nothing can come close to knowing what it was really like.

Jesus died from cruel and unusual punishment. He died for me. He took on my sins and paid what I could never pay. He spilled His blood to make me pure and acceptable in His sight. The cross is the pivotal moment in history. The sky darkened, the earth quaked, and Jesus declared with His final breath, "It is finished." At that moment the sins of all mankind were paid for. Salvation is for anyone who believes in Jesus and His finished work on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.

Christ has conquered, and if we have made our way to the foot of the cross, we can be so thankful for that terrible Good Friday. Jesus came to this earth to seek and save the lost, the rebels, the sinners - the people like me. Praise be to God for Good Friday!

Insight: Have you considered eternity and where you will spend it? Jesus Christ made the way for you to go to heaven. He's the way, the truth and the one comes to Father except through Him! (John 14:6)

Prayer: Father, Keep me near the cross. This is where my sin was forgiven, my burdens are lifted and where I can draw near to You through my blessed Savior Jesus. In Jesus' Name, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
