That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:10-11

When we know Jesus as our Savior and honor Him as our Lord, we can surely identify with the songwriter who wrote, “Jesus is the sweetest name I know.” At His baptism, God spoke from heaven saying, “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased” (Luke 3:22). Later, at the Transfiguration, God spoke again saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him” (Luke 9:35).

However, the name of Jesus is spoken many times a day in a far different context. Some use it in profanity— in explosive utterance when they are frustrated or angry. I myself, literally wince in a painful recoil when I hear Jesus' Name abused this way. Others use it in slander, expressing ridicule and doubt that He is indeed the Son of God. And many use His name with hatred.

Some day Jesus will be recognized as the person He is and every knee will bow before Him and every tongue will proclaim Him “Jesus Christ is Lord!” What a glorious day that will be for the true believers. For those that died in their unbelief however...well, I imagine there will be a flood of tears and deep painful sorrow as their knees bow, because it will be too late.

Insight: God has given you the privilege to know His Son, Jesus...and the great opportunity to acknowledge Him as your Lord and Savior. Have you ever looked at knowing Jesus as a privilege? Let the words of your heart express your love of Him today.

Dear Lord, Help me to bow my knee to Jesus right now while I still have time. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
