PostSubject: BIBLE: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth   Sat Aug 15, 2015 11:25 am

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15: 4-6

Do you know what has been written in the past? The apostle Paul is writing here to the Roman believers in 1st century Italy but he is also writing to us here in the 21st century. We too need to refer to what was written in the past. Do you need endurance and encouragement to get through another week? If you would give the Bible a chance...if you would open it up along with your heart...and let God minister to you, you would be elated at the positive changes in your life.

and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:15-17. Towards the very end of his life, the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy one last time. Here, Paul is reminding him that as a child, Timothy learned how to be saved through reading the scriptures...through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now Paul is encouraging Timothy to press on...all scripture is useful for training in righteousness so the Christian can be proficient, equipped for every good work. Do you think it's important to read the scriptures?

You bet it's important to read the scriptures...number one, to get saved. No one can get to heaven by their own righteousness. We must have the righteousness of Christ to get there. Read the scriptures for yourself and you'll find this to be absolutely true. Christ willingly died for us so that we could attain salvation through Him. It's a conscious decision we must make before we leave this earth. We don't inherit salvation through our Christian parents. We do not get to heaven by being good and Christ's death on the cross doesn't mean all are going to heaven. Salvation is provided for all people that have made a conscious decision to place their trust in Him...for the forgiveness of their sins! for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. We cannot truly know of this blessed gift without opening up God's good book. Number two...reading the scriptures trains us up in righteousness so that we can be proficient in the that we can produce good works. The Scriptures also helps us to be of one mind to love each other as God wants us to.

Insight: Read your Bible folks...your eternity with your Creator depends on it! Good people don't go to heaven...Saved people do.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me an earnest desire to read your Word. I want to know Jesus as my Savior and be proficient in the faith to produce goodness out of the abundance of Your righteousness. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
