For none of us lives to himself alone... If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Romans 14:7-8

Though I wish it were not so, I have plenty of days where I live for myself. I find myself absorbed with worry about what I will accomplish or fail, who will accept me or reject me, how my actions will commend me or denigrate me. What will be the reactions of my wife, my family or my friends to the decisions I make?

If you are anything like me - and I suspect I am not alone - you too have days like this, marked by hurt, disappointment, fear. You and I need to hear Jesus' words to Peter in Matthew 16:23: "...you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men." I can relate to Peter... focusing on the here and now instead of fixing my mind on what Jesus has done and is doing for me.

Paul's word to the believers in Colossi...and now to us, challenges us every hour: Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:2. That's hard to do when what is ahead looks tempting and alluring, or when what is ahead looks shaky or frightening. But if you have received Christ as your Savior...you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3)

Insight: Remember why you live: to serve and glorify God by the power of the Holy Spirit of Christ.

Dear Lord, Help me to keep my mind on You and remember why you saved me...so I can glorify You as I live my life.. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 cheers

What a beautiful sentiment Bob. So true...in every way. I am like you.. burdened by the same worry and misguided mindset. BUT... I am being reminded now almost daily, as opposed to the many years I wasn't. Wink Gotta be a step in the right direction! Smile

Thanks for reminding us of what's important, so many times we get caught up in the trappings of this life that we forget about why we are here.
